moshiasri··on Ask HN: I need to specialize. Web, or iOS?
well for the start, no body can predict what will be more valuable in 10 years down the road, and who ever says so, it is just mere speculation.

The best road to take for you will be the one which is paying you more right now, personally me being a CS graduate degree and a CFA, i would advise you to weight in scale what will be more full filling to your needs at present.

the best course of action will be the web instead the ios, and the argument here is pretty simple one, first there was ios, then there was android, then came windows, what do you know will come next, but web has been the web, no matter if the bots make it or the AI takes it over, all of those things will also require skilled and smart people to make all the things happen.

We do not yet live in the terminator age (as i like to call it). yes the technology has advanced, and the advancing of it also need specially skilled smart people. iOS or android are just a piece of the pie, why settle for it, when you can have the bigger bite or even the whole.

moshiasri··on Ask HN: Joining a startup as employee #5. Any tips for contract negotiations?
well the best course of action will be to ask them(employer) for a rough draft of the contract, so that you could go through it before hand, and get an advice from your lawyer, if you have one.
moshiasri··on Ask HN: How do you decide what to learn next?
there is no one particular path way or a one size fits all solution, it depends on your choice and your requirements, instead of asking what to learn next, you should ask yourself should you really learn a particular thing today, or is this a scene from a different chapter of the book and should be done later.

i just have one simple saying about the subject selection which i wish to learn "when you have removed a subject which is not a immediate requirement , what ever remain not matter how difficult it is, must be learned".

moshiasri··on How do you define intelligence?
Intelligence has been defined in many different ways including one's capacity for logic, abstract thought, understanding, self-awareness, communication, learning, emotional knowledge, memory, planning, creativity and problem solving.
moshiasri··on Ask HN: What to do when your country offers you nothing (as a programmer)?
look i do understand your fear of getting the experience mediocre field, but lemme tell you some thing there is no such thing like a mediocre experience, you have to get up and do something even if it is a chore your boss asks you to instead of doing nothing because all you learning will go away in six months to a year, and you wont be able to write even 50 to 100 lines of code because you have lost touch of it, it happened to me, and believe me it is scary.

plus you have to take initiative to learn and grown, your boss or who ever you work under does not have time to sit with you ever day and guide you like a counselor. he has errands to run every day.

and about not being able to switch, so all you need to switch to another field is a reliving letter and an experience letter. and you can switch. i went to work for a bank for a while after my first failed startup. there will be no problem.

moshiasri··on Ask HN: How do you trade?
to answer your question yes i do manage my own portfolio.

i use my metatrader for technical analysis, it charts are my source of information as opposed to the traditional news services. plus meta trader has a get feature of setting alarms and bells to notify me if something has turned the way i expect it to.

i am not a day trader, but i check the selected company stocks which i am targeting in a particular market on the daily bases, and look for the movement and opportunities in the particular market segment or a particular stock in a market section. And then make a decision whether to jump in or dump it. its simple plus if you add more than two or three information sources or adviser's it gets all confusing to make a decision.

i believe in keeping it simple.

moshiasri··on Ask HN: How did you learn about stocks and the market?
Well they are not a sham, but they are not very help full either.

look in stock market information is an asset, but if the news is out on any news service, it has already been used and all you are getting are the left overs.

Instead of getting glued to the newsletters or pro accounts or even a business news channel, i would advise you to improve your technical analysis skill, because that way you can understand the market movement in real time, and you do not have to worry about being feed some misguided or hoarding news, and you can see the trader sentiment to understand the mood, and movement of the market. and use the news service as an extra source in decision making, plus you need to learn how to read between the lines or in this case listen to what is actually being said. most of the time you will be amazed by the difference between what has been said and what was the actual case.

And then there will be days when you would just have to sit back and not buy/sell even a single contract at all, and days when you will go bananas by the sheer volume to transaction or market volume.

make your own trading rules, and strategies and then stick to them. dont just give up at the first instance.

moshiasri··on Ask HN: How did you learn about stocks and the market?
Your Welcome my friend, if you need any further info regarding the stock market, fell free to ask, i will be glad to answer. :)
moshiasri··on Ask HN: What to do when your country offers you nothing (as a programmer)?
Well, first of all my friend i feel like i know you from some where. oh yes, you are in the same place as i was three years ago. after taking my bachelors degree.

my friend, things are not gonna end just because you think or believe they will, and even if they do you will get one of the most important thing out of it "EXPERIENCE" i have to failed startups under my name, and am still working on my third, take a plunge i would suggest, plus as you said you have some one to take care of so extra cash in your pocket wont hurt.

the life is yours, the decision is yours, but have if the time is gonna it is not gonna come by, don't lose hope just yet, try to cover an extra mile. some thing good will turn out.

As for me i live in India, in a place where the salaries of an average programmer is 250 euro/month. so there are worst places than where you are right now. take the experience not the money, first two years as a junior programmer are very important.

Thanks for listening :)

moshiasri··on Ask HN: How did you learn about stocks and the market?
Well the real question here should be how much pain can you bear to learn the process. Because the term stocks and market covers a big area, you have to select a more specific domain, like bonds, derivatives, stocks, commodities or forex and the learning curve is steeper than the traditional processes like coding or design, plus there is capital involved, if you are a newbie i would advice you to start with "Paper Trading" and read a lot of books.

Do not enter the market, right after you finish a few courses, you will just be chewed up and spit out, and find a book called "A Complete guide to Day Trading" by "Markus Heitkoetter" it is plain and simple with lots of examples, and put "the Intelligent Investor" away for six months at least, that is a good book but is not for now.

I Started three years back when i was in engineering final year, and went on to get the certification as a derivatives and equity trader from the regulatory body.

Good Luck
