morpheous··on Git in six hundred words
"It points the master branch on beta at the commit object that the master branch points at on the alpha repository."

Yes, as clear as mud. This is why I hate git. Why should code versioning be SO bloody complicated?!. Give me SVN or (shudder) CVS anyday.

morpheous··on Snowden warnt vor Industriespionage durch Geheimdienste
Bitte, wir sprechen nicht Deutsche!
morpheous··on Ripple fined for acting as a money services business without registration
Oh fuck!, this is the WRONG kind of publicity.
morpheous··on Couple found guilty of having sex on Florida beach, register as sex offenenders
"The convictions carry a maximum prison sentence of 15 years.".

Surely, this is even more silly than having sex in public.

morpheous··on Sam Altman: 36 Life Lessons I Learned Before the Age of 30
So much intelligence, from such a young man.
morpheous··on Rent-a-Foreigner in China
This:

"One guy told me "I will kill you", but then he told my girlfriend "Thats the only sentence I know in english and I don't know what does it mean"."

ROFL. You made my day ! :)

morpheous··on Billionaire investor Peter Thiel: 'Always aim for a monopoly'
Spoken from a position of power. Not practical (or indeed useful) advice for most people.
morpheous··on The Cruelest Sport (1992)
A rather strange choice of words:

".... boxing’s very intentions are obscene, which sets it apart, theoretically at least, from purer (i.e., Caucasian) establishment sports ..."

morpheous··on Talking About Money
As someone about to start doing some consulting work, your advice couldn't have come a t a more fortuitous time. Thank you!
morpheous··on Microsoft Launches Visual Studio Code, a Free Cross-Platform Code Editor
Never thought I'd say this ... but I'm beginning to like Microsoft again ... (not entirely sure this tiger can change it's stripes - but), all I can say is "Welcome to the the FOSS side!
morpheous··on Ask HN: Which companies are doing anything good for the world?
Glad to hear there are people like you around - not jaded by humanity (yet?). May I be so bold as to ask what age you are?
morpheous··on Woman behind Pakistan’s first hackathon, Sabeen Mahmud, shot dead
Lost for words. May she RIP.
morpheous··on Elevator.js
Who wrote this a 5 year old?!

I'm very annoyed about the sudden blaring, jarring music. Got a few angry stares from colleagues.

The polite thing to have done would at least put up a notice.

morpheous··on Bhutan's dark secret to happiness
Bah!, can't access it from the UK!
morpheous··on x*sin(y)
Oh wow!, just wow!!. Maths FTW!
morpheous··on Ask HN: Why do people have a hatred for Scala?
Hatred is such a strong word ....
morpheous··on Why Young Men Go to War
Not politically correct, but essentially the truth about human nature.

These two statements:

1. “War is so compelling that you can even get a room full of pacifists to pay money to be entertained by it.”"

2. "“My sister is a complete and utter feminist and pacifist,” he explains. “She doesn’t see the irony. She’s participating in this wonderful festival … that’s reenacting a battle. Nobody reenacts the Treaty of Ghent. [It] just isn’t that compelling.”"

I find particularly profound.

Any attempt to "window dress" our base nature, is just that - "Window dressing".

morpheous··on Hal Finney being cryopreserved now
Sad, and in a way beautiful (I hope that's not an inappropriate word to use), at the same time. This man lived his life to the full, and faced the end of his life (as he has known it), with the courage of an adventurer.

I must admit i had never heard of the man himself, although I do know of bitcoin. But I am humbled by how he is smiling in all of his pictures, despite his physical body slowly giving up on him; his wife constantly by his side, through thick and thin.

I get the impression that Hal would have been a genuinely nice man to know. His life and the way he has faced his challenges head on is (should be) an inspiration to all.

morpheous··on Ask HN: How difficult is fundraising as a solo founder?
"I would be careful calling any investors yokel or D-List", ne'er a true word been spoken. Don't bite (or look down) upon the hand that nourishes you and your dreams.
morpheous··on Ask HN: How difficult is fundraising as a solo founder?
Very difficult (not impossible - see below*), from what you have written above. Why should anyone invest their money with you, when you have no track record. Also, what happens if you fall under the "proverbial" bus.

Any reasonable investor will say (not in so many words), use your own money to prove that your idea works, and then I may invest some of my money.

You may find some risk taker investors, who may take a bet on you, but if they are professional investors, they hedge their bet by making sure that they can wrestle control of the company from you if you don't deliver - and that's unlikely to be appealing to you either, so your best bet is to try to show the world that they were all wrong in not backing you - and they (investors) will all come crawling to you.

At the moment, the way I see it, you're not holding any of the cards (though I'm sure you see it differently), so investors will call all the shots in the current scenario you describe.
