moot··on Reddit has the killer social network feature: anonymity
That whole anonymity thing is overrated, IMHO. Who would ever argue for such a thing?
moot··on HackNY Live Demo Stream
+1

Sad I didn't get to meet the Class of 2013 earlier this summer, but the fellows who showed up to my talk last night were all top notch. Hope they enjoy the rest of their hard earned summer break.

moot··on HackNY Live Demo Stream
I stand corrected!
moot··on Phil Fish and the Internet’s war against creatives
Sexier*

Fixed that for you.

moot··on Phil Fish and the Internet’s war against creatives
I read every e-mail I receive at moot@4chan.org, usually within minutes.
moot··on Phil Fish and the Internet’s war against creatives
I should syndicate my 4chan inbox somewhere. 10 years of "FAK U FAGET" has left me with a mountain of wonderful e-mail.

Caught me!

>much of what goes on there is illegal, and a substantial portion is immoral or malicious.

Wrong, but thanks for playing.

When people recognize/approach me on the street, they often qualify it with "B-but I don't use 4chan [anymore]."

There's certainly a stigma.

Good thing you're not on 4chan -- using the 'R' word there is a death wish.
moot··on 4chan now offers self-serve advertising starting at $20
They provided a boilerplate version of the ad and I gave them the 4chan-appropriate keywords to use with it. They've always been great to work with re: advertising.
moot··on Windows 8.1 Preview
Is this the first time Microsoft has branded an update as a dot X release instead of a Service Pack?

I for one welcome this change and hope it signals a switch to more frequent major OS updates.

moot··on Coinbase Response: Data On Merchant Pages
+1 -- Brian is excellent.

I believe we (4chan) were the first merchant to use their merchant tools and it's been a real pleasure to get to know Brian and work with his team.

moot··on Ask HN: How did you find your early adopters?
I'm sorry, but reading "I tried a Show HN for one of my projects. It's now dead." made me laugh so hard I spit out my tea.

You owe me new boxers, sir. And some burn cream.

moot··on CloudFlare was down
What's the opposite of slowpoke.jpg?
moot··on CloudFlare was down
We use CloudFlare for everything -- CDN, DDoS mitigation, Railgun (see below), et cetera. They serve ~1.5 petabytes of bandwidth on our behalf every month and proxy billions upon billions of requests. I'm a huge fan of the product and team, despite hiccups like this one.

More on Railgun: http://arstechnica.com/information-technology/2013/02/cloudf...

Edit -- I am officially faster than carrier pigeon:

me: was i the first human to notify you guys? | me: i caught it within the first 30-60 seconds i think | me: because i have no life and never sleep | CloudFlare Ops pal: yeah. you did.

If anyone wants to hire me to check their site instead of Pingdom, feel free to ping me!

moot··on CloudFlare was down
Amen.
moot··on Several out of work as Valve makes 'large decisions' about its future
That's a huge bummer. Jeri is amazing.
moot··on Moving from Trello to Blimp
>Made by the Blimp crew in San Juan, Puerto Rico

This made me happy. Cool to see a Puerto Rican startup on the front page of HN.

Are there other notable PR startups that I might not know about?

moot··on Zynga stock plummets below value of its cash and real estate
This reads like most of the e-mail I get, and I don't even run a publicly traded company!
moot··on Introducing the 4chan API
Doesn't exist yet. I'll update the API GitHub page once we add it.
moot··on Introducing the 4chan API
> I'd say the fact that your posts are most likely to be forgotten, even if it is archived, is much more of a negative aspect of the site than a positive.

This is the most magical aspect of 4chan, which is why I don't care for archives.

moot··on Introducing the 4chan API
Just a few minutes, since we only store active threads in the database. Was only ~9,000 threads.
moot··on Introducing the 4chan API
Probably not. Since we don't have user accounts, and already have a bit of a spam problem, I'd be pretty worried about what a real POST API might bring.
moot··on Introducing the 4chan API
All of the old threads were rebuilt, so everything should have a JSON representation.
moot··on Introducing the 4chan API
We'll have indexes and a catalog view soon.

Send an e-mail to ipo@4chan.org and I'll be sure to invite you to our roadshow.
moot··on We will try to stop fixing bugs in PHP
> After carefully reviewing this bug report with our board of directors on 4chan, we have come to the conclusion that your "rusty C skills" should be enough to fix the issue.

I am sad I was not invited :(
