I just bought that book and will be starting it tomorrow. I am finishing up The Eye of the World - Robert Jordan today. My wife loved it (she reads a lot faster than me).
I definitely see the benefit, because I can ignore all other posts. But when the topic or thread gets big, it just gets overwhelming for me. But I guess that can be the case either way.
Yeah the stagger comments kind of bother me personally and make it hard for me to follow. I like flat comments. But I think that is because that is what I am used to on the forums I frequent.
I haven't found anything I wanted. I mean there are great deals, but nothing I am interested in. To be fair I am only really interested in buying cheap books.
That's what my friend told me too when I was considering the original offer. I actually flat out rejected it because it was far too low. They went up a little bit when I did that and then the promises came too. I figured 6 months wasn't so long and I could always look for something else if they don't keep their end.
My new manager just admitted to me a couple weeks back that my old manager (who is his manager now) straight up lied to me to get me in the door. He lied about how quickly my salary would increase. They told me that every six months salary is generally increased. Now that six months has come, he tells me that it is very rare for an increase mid-year.
When I used to process credit cards for MetLife it would always error out if I messed up the name or address. This was only about a year ago. I forgot what system we were using, but just thought I would mention it.
Wow that sounds awful. I don't think I could handle that to be honest. I don't do any paperwork at my work. But I am still fairly junior here. But our managers would handle all that paperwork either way.
Have you tried some of the free lancing websites like oDesk? While it probably doesn't completely solve your problem, it will give you some real world production experience. You might have to low ball some offers though.
