molszanski··on Weaponizing Ads: How Google and Facebook Ads Are Used to Wage Propaganda Wars
It’s much easier to abuse existing oppression machine than to build it from scratch
molszanski··on Streaming services are driving viewers back to piracy
Same. I am just tired of buying a movie and then torrenting it 5 min later. Once even bought twice on two different platforms. Still broken languages. It is not that hard. WTF.
molszanski··on Streaming services are driving viewers back to piracy
Also in any language. I am so tired of reading a list of audio/subtitles languages available, only to find out that they don’t work after purchase. Am all platforms. Good lord. Just tired of that bs

There is a related, interesting legal battle over JavaScript trademark.

I think that it might be a good idea to flagpole an OSS trademark just in case some bozos come and spoil the fun

What would you do if random corp would come and try to hijack your open source identity?
molszanski··on Why your website should be under 14kB in size
If you turn this into open problem, without hypothetical limits of what an frontend engineer ca do it would become more interesting and more impactful in real life. That said engineer is human being who could use that time in myriad other ways that would be more productive to helping the environment
molszanski··on Run TypeScript code without worrying about configuration
I love tsx. Lately I’ve been also using bun for the same purpose.
molszanski··on Kiro: A new agentic IDE
Good coding and #prompting hack for coding. Imagine you have a large codebase and you work with other people and you want version control your .cursor folder. Just symlink it to another folder and version control that folder.

molszanski··on Bitchat – A decentralized messaging app that works over Bluetooth mesh networks
I've tried a couple of apps like that with use case of communicating during festivals with next-to-none wifi/cell service with a big group of people. None of them worked. Fingers crossed for this one

molszanski··on High tariffs become 'real' with our first $36K bill
This kill US based vendors and stores. Everyone will move to a JIT model. Shipping to US only after you buy a product.

I expect Mexico and Canadian warehouses will have a lot of business. Stocking a warehouse in USA would be insanely risky because of this upfront cost.

This will kill smaller and medium sized businesses and concentrate capital. Corporations with deep pockets must be elated. This kills their mid sized competitors.

Astro  indeed.

I think Astro is perfect fit for majority of projects.

Ridiculously simple in use without all the next toil and issues

molszanski··on Ask HN: Would you pay for 100x faster TypeScript type checker?
Yup yup, I know, but requires a lot of setup on CI. We are using project references btw. They are very cool

molszanski··on Ask HN: Would you pay for 100x faster TypeScript type checker?
I would pipe a faster checker as a first fail fast local and CI. I want a CI to fail fast but in the end I want it to be correct before production release
molszanski··on Ask HN: Would you pay for 100x faster TypeScript type checker?
Why should they be different?
molszanski··on Ask HN: Would you pay for 100x faster TypeScript type checker?
Perhaps. In our huge project it slows the team down a bit. It could even be worth having a faster precheck / prebuilt step for the CI to fail fast. While money is less of an issue, configuring another tool in legacy monorepo might be the biggest blocker.
molszanski··on Dependency management fatigue, or why I ditched React for Go+HTMX+Templ
Didn't know about starfx. Interesting.

To anyone reading, mobx is a more generic tool for any type of state management.

And starfx seems like a data fetching + holding state and providing hooks for that data kind of library. Very unique and looks someone cared to make something nice for that kind of problem

molszanski··on Dependency management fatigue, or why I ditched React for Go+HTMX+Templ
shameless plug

If anyone is looking for IoC + async dependency injection in react components I've made a tiny lib that does wonders for me in a an `iti+mobx` combo

https://itijs.org/docs/with-react/react-full#async-request-f... https://stackblitz.com/edit/github-3g8pzp?file=src%2FApp.tsx

molszanski··on Dependency management fatigue, or why I ditched React for Go+HTMX+Templ
Yup. Don't use react for state or some hook spaghetti like react query. Use mobx and live happily ever after :)
