modells··on Stockton, California to give $500 a month in basic income to some residents
$1500/mo would cover most basics besides rent.

Collective punishment because non-tech people are envious? That’s the least cool thing I’ve heard in a while. Mandating purchases from local restaurants would be totalitarianism. I might lean democratic Marxist, but this proposal goes way too far. Perhaps it’s just a CBS clickbait and/or proposal to stir a debate? If restaurants offered better food and sold to meal plan services or directly to companies, what’s the issue?
modells··on Annoyed by Restaurant Playlists, a Master Musician Made His Own
Spotify needs a location-based check-in system where an users’ tastes vote for piped music play, and/or some way to vote on the next song: like a distributed, semi/automated what was turntable.fm.
modells··on College Rejection Threat Highlights Social Credit Blacklists
Orwellian and insane as fuck. Who decides what is a “credit” and what is a “debt?” What recourse or due-process do people have to challenge this evidence-free, glorified thought-policing? Those were rhetorical questions because this sort of whole social-engineering is totalitarian, ludicrous and the textbook definition of evil; also look at internet and media censorship, Xi installing himself as Emperor, lack of property rights and the supposedly “anti-corruption” campaign. What shred of moral authority can one have when they install themselves as supreme dictator?
modells··on Lagos: Hope and Warning
Boiling frog is the better analogy. Rome wasn’t built in a day and didn’t decline in a day either. It’s the slow death-march, “water drops to the forehead” of civilization that so weakens it such that criminal mobs and/or religious lunatics can takeover. The pattern throughout history has been roughly the same story every time, except now there is an abundance of technology, population cresting/declining and absurd inequality.

More Vanagons (T3) than Burning Man, Oregon, Santa Rosa and Turo app combined. Just let it sink in that those go for $8k USD each in the US and parts are scarce.

Also, flattening of the world, resurgence of populist pedagogues, crises of the majority of countries slowly/quickly becoming perpetual failed states. Corruption, manufactured consent and disengagement have led nearly every civilization to this same conclusion at around 10 generations or 250 years. It’s not inevitable, it’s just the doom of repeating history by being ignorant and passive.

modells··on Zero latency communications
Zero latency noise, interruptions and distractions. There should be a nonzero-sum cost (ie getting up and walking to another office) for even informal meetings because meetings are time sinks, not getting things done. Better yet is to have an IoT “traffic signal” beyond headphones that indicates level of focus, urgency and/or social receptivity.
modells··on New Wearable Sensor Detects Stress Hormone in Sweat
Phreakn cool. By coincidence, I could really use this due to an unknown and variable sympathetic NS dysfunction that creates unfathomable general anxiety, essential tremor, vestibular dysfunction. So much so, I cannot, in any way, sleep without a sedative (mirtazapine, and melatonin).

Suspected cause is withdrawl (dyscalibration), neuropathy and/or neuritis of adrenergic or sympathetic systems due to previous serotonin modulator scrip, vortioxetine. Because the anxiety and fight-or-flight response is so hyperactive, I’m on the typical anxiolytics except benzos and buspar. Mirtazapine and propranolol have it almost under control; baclofen and/or hydroxyzine when I’m too stressed, unable to focus or not present... however these worsen tremors. Going to have to up propranolol if tremors get worse, hopefully won’t need as much baclofen or hydroxyzine. Vigorous exercise can only handle the equivalent stress as hydroxyzine does on it’s own.

modells··on Geosharded Recommendations with Hilbert Curve at Tinder
I’m sorry, but Tinder and similar swipe-on-photos cargo-cult hookup apps have de facto cannibalized the online dating-scene with its entire focus on appearance (and atrophying genuine communication), promoting a major captological phenomenon of manipulating women into rating men more negatively based on nothing other than appearances. It contributes to unrealistic expectations, disposable interactions, paradox of choice and a lack of authenticity. If you’re not perfect and super photogenic with 4 professional “candid” pics, you have zero chance on these anti-relationship apps. tldr: it’s far phonier than it needs to be, encourages casual wasting of time and leads to a society where people stop talking to/slam the door on the real world. If you move to a new area, the solid, normal people aren’t going to be on hookup apps, but psycho nymphos with herpes are most def on there.
