mobilemidget··on I went to the office for the first time. I fucking hated it
I'm bit puzzled what sound a monitor makes?
mobilemidget··on Candide – Identify Plants with a Photo
One of these things I think of when I do garden things, "I bet there is an app for this" but typically as soon as I have left the garden I forget all about it.

I have installed the app now for the next time I am gardening :)

Thanks

mobilemidget··on Microbes in cow stomachs may help our plastic problem
Arent we all switching from plastic to paper, bamboo and wood? (In particular in throw away items.)

I cant stop thinking about goats after reading this, they eat everything, do they share these types of microbes in cow stomachs, do they differ, are they 'stronger' microprobes, can they perhaps process more different types of plastics?

mobilemidget··on Ask HN: Is it just me, or is the inbox is the worst place for newsletters?
And I doubt there is anybody at Gmail/google that actually knows.

It’s impossible to communicate with their support about it anyway

mobilemidget··on HTTP/3 needs us to make firewall changes
My personal opinion would prefer to improve those networks vs going UDP for http(s). Until spoofing, amplification attacks on UDP are properly tackled and not causing most internet outages, I'm not really looking forward to a UDP web (http/3)
mobilemidget··on One week of Libera Chat
So who is this .. person who keeps spamming the shit out of everybody on freenode IRC* claiming that libera chat is a new network for pedofiles?
mobilemidget··on Sublime Text 4
Yes accepts a max 3 year old v3 license. Mine is 8 and been worth it, just not another 70$ now that I’m force learning myself vi :-) 3 will remain fine for the quick things I want it to do
mobilemidget··on Tesla no longer accepts Bitcoin due to climate impact
He also mentioned dogecoin a lot in between.
mobilemidget··on I mailed an AirTag and tracked its progress

mobilemidget··on Please fix the AWS free tier before somebody gets hurt
Same respect, nice tool, but it is sad it is needed. But I guess it's similar to lawyers, police, army, I don't like the need for them, it, but good they exist.
mobilemidget··on The Linux kernel has surpassed one million git commits
After you calculated all that and let us know :)

mobilemidget··on Fines up to $66k or five years prison for Australians returning home from India
This makes me wonder about, how cargo is currently handled between India and Australia?
mobilemidget··on QEMU 6.0
Looking forward to testing, VNC: virtio-vga support for scaling resolution based on client window size
mobilemidget··on A problem repeatedly occurred with Safari 14.1
I cant believe it is the only solution, and strongly doubt it is the only option. But for many users it is the easiest to do unfortunately, to get back to a clean working slate.
mobilemidget··on Replace Google Analytics with a shell script
AWK & SED :) one of the better books I bought when studying. Often parsing a logs to find some things that other logging don't record/show for a manager. Often you hear the same phrase 'You can check logs like that, and you don't need a browser? How... magic....'
mobilemidget··on Don’t we all just want to use SQL on the front end?
If you don't fully understand what happens under the hood with those ORMs and limit yourself to its, well limitations, then somebody is going to have a bad time. And in my experience too, with almost with all (read all that I tried) of them, some queries end up to be way easier to write yourself, and most frequent this is performance/resource issue.
mobilemidget··on Ask HN: For those who use Chrome, why do you?
Good reminder about chromium, I should install that too. The phone home requests while not even browsing with chrome is simply said excessive
mobilemidget··on NASA space copter ready for first Mars flight
The solar panel on the YouTube thumbnail looks quite dusty.
mobilemidget··on Fuck Magento
oh missed that, though that's just as bad imho.
mobilemidget··on Fuck Magento
Just installed and testing Magento for a client, and I cant say I'm having a good experience. But what I miss in the rage registered domain, fuckmagento.com, are proper alternatives. I don't mind the rage posts about something being bad, but point out some proper alternatives too :)
mobilemidget··on YouTuber Builds Working 3D-Printed Turbojet Engine and Tests It in His Attic
"Integza is known for a few things;"

Dont forget his hate for tomatoes.

mobilemidget··on Wi-Fi 6 is designed to reduce congestion from devices

mobilemidget··on Things you should do now (2011)
"As of 2011 Facebook is in the second group, and spends several milliseconds of CPU time sanitizing every display string on its way to the browser, which multiplies out to hundreds of servers worth of CPUs sitting in a datacenter paying the price for the invalid UTF-8 in the databases."

I can imagine how companies will be taxed extra for this somewhere in the (probably not so near) future.

mobilemidget··on FPGA NTP Server
the reason I read hacker news comments, I never heard of PTP. So I started google'ing. And now I know more and am happier :) thanks for that

mobilemidget··on Left brain hemisphere more awake the first night sleeping in a new place (2016)
Makes me wonder if people going for some 24 hour observation research (epilepsy patients, etc) shouldn't at least go for 2 nights, 48 hours monitoring.
mobilemidget··on Multiple Beverly Hills PD officers now weaponizing copyright against streaming
Don't underestimate Hollywood and alike :)

But I can imagine that playing certain music for a large crowd requires a specific license? Something like a radio station?

mobilemidget··on External boot disks still don’t work properly with M1 Macs
I can only assume your external disk is encrypted. Does that work fine with booting in every machine you tried?
mobilemidget··on Elfstedentocht
Katie Couric is coming under fire for saying ice skating is an “important mode of transportation” for people who live in Amsterdam.

:) I remember these clips, was funny :)
