I'll try to figure it out.
Also I wasn't a fan of how every client looked like they were straight from XP. I used this as a way to get familiar with Electron, as well.
Lastly, it's open source so people can add whatever they want to it. I have a few ideas that I would love to be using myself (image previews, in-client file editing, etc), and I'm sure other people have their own features they'd want - and they can add them now.
I'm using JSFTP (https://github.com/sergi/jsftp), which doesn't have SFTP support yet. I wanted to get it up and running on both Mac and Windows before diving into that.
I've found a few forks of JSFTP with it at least partially implemented, so that's the next thing I plan to tackle.
I don't use FTP frequently - I just needed something basically to upload/download files.
After switching to windows, I couldn't find any decent FTP clients I liked. I tried Filezilla, Winscp, Cyberduck. They're all too busy and look like they're straight from XP... so I made this.
I guess I'm just not sure what you're talking about when you say "High Quality GUIs" when talking about Windows FTP clients specifically.
This is the first electron or even real node projects I've worked on from scratch, so I'm still getting used to everything.
I made it March 2015 and updated it December 2015. It's been sitting since, with a few thousand people using it every month.
It hit the #1 spot on Product Hunt, and after that it was posted about on Lifehacker, Inc., Newsweek, and others.
I've recently tried to spend time updating it to monetize it, but I just don't have the time to work on it.
Right now I make $100-200 per month from AdSense, but I really have no idea what I'm doing with it so nothing is optimized with the ads - they were just kind of slapped on there. I know it has potential to make money, I just don't have time.
After 8 months I decided it needed a refresh. I built it from the ground up while learning some AngularJS. It's now much faster, has much more customization options, and is much better looking (in my opinion)...
I put the site up ~10 minutes ago after a short beta test with some users - now I'm looking from feedback from some pros!
Let me know what you think!
(I know some of you will dive in and judge my Angular Skills.. just a warning they aren't super good yet).
I'm working on finding something better than the arrow navigation. I thought it was a good idea at first, but then realized it's annoying when using the textarea boxes to type paragraphs because you're unable to switch between letters. I'll definitely be disabling it now until I find something better!
As for the URL in the finished product, that's there by default since I'm relying on Chrome's "Print Page" function, and I have no control over those settings. I need to find a way to tell the user that they can click "More Settings" then uncheck "Show Headers & footers" to remove that. It's just hard to display since I can't show anything over that dialog.
Again, Thanks for the feedback though!
I'm also looking for some feedback on the UX/UI. If you have any suggestions on improving anything, please let me know!
