If this really is a technology play it makes little sense to start with the restaurant, because the restaurants requires much more capital ( physical buildings, marketing and promotions, staff, cost of goods, concept, branding.. etc) than building the software and trying to partner up with existing chains or small to local restaurants.
1. listing the hulu shows is sort of pointless for mobile. most phones don't support flash, and I think Hulu blocks shows anyways and tells you to get hulu +. I could be wrong on the hulu thing.
2. Should be a way to retrieve additional tweets outside of your initial list for each show when reaching the bottom. I do see a button randomly appear at the top of the list that tells me new tweets are available, but I'm not even sure it does anything.
I am viewing it on chrome so maybe somethings may work differently ?
android has a feature to this thats very similar. For instance when looking at an image in the gallery, you're able to share it through other applications, sms, dropbox, facebook, etc.
I did a similar service but had to shut it down because people were using it to spam other people.. basically send stupid texts by putting in their friends numbers. I would get complaints because of limited texts or txt do cost money and this was an issue of reoccurring texts. I haven't tried your product but how do you solve this problem ?
well the whole point of having an unlocked bootloader is so it makes it easier to run custom roms. Most roms are aosp or stock that remove all the crap.
if you decide to quit your pursuit of building a startup after the 3 months in an incubator, then you probably wouldn't of succeeded even within a big incubator.
I'm more excited for the Google virtual prepaid card. For some reason, a lot of credit cards don't offer one time use credit card numbers for online spending. I know Citi does and at one time paypal did
Anyone know how it would effect my own insurance knowing that random people will be driving my car on top of the extra mileage? Also what about extra maintenance involved with renting out my car, are there any incentives from Getaround concerning this ? Another concern would be that, yes in general people that rent cars may not be as responsible with their rental as their own car.
the mobile thing is questionable, either way you are carrying around a 10" device. If its the 1 lb that makes a difference to you .. so be it. I don't own a stand for my tablet, so it becomes awkward for example eating and trying to use the tablet at the same time, where as the screen on my chrome is already upright, but yeah with a stand this fixes this problem. You need to buy the right product for your needs. I would never carry around my tablet for scanning.. when I have a mobile phone, but if you don't have an Android or iPhone I would suggest that over a tablet.
I own both the cr-48 and a tablet, and the cr-48 is much more preferable because of the keyboard. Also its super hacker friendly. I run Unbuntu and chrome on it and Ubuntu runs very well on it. I wish they could get Android running on it as well. You get a full featured browser on the chromebook. Its light, great battery life and from their pricing point looks to be much cheaper. The free 100MB of 3G have come in handy more than once.
agree, I think there biggest failure is not attempting to move to another platform.
Theres plenty of ebook stores that do well on Android.. Kindle, Aldiko, & Nook all do well and I use all of them when there are deals, just like I use the Amazon and Google marketplace. When deals appear on apps/books I like, I buy. The content is more valuable than the actual reader.
as a side note I would feel like a jerk charging a friend of a friend to stay (like $60 a night), especially if the friend in common asked me as a favor.
i've tried this method.. the problem is if you go a day and miss that nap, your whole cycle gets thrown off. Then later in the day you will probably overcompensate take a long nap because you're exhausted and just sucks. It worked well during the week then the weekend just screwed it up. I've gone to a solid 6 to 7 hours of sleep consistently with hour naps in the evening , every other day. Seems to work. Anyways .. since you are not trying to get on a cycle of little sleep, I would say 4 hours as to get rem sleep
I read the FAQ, how would i use it to consolidate credit cards ? The only way I would see that as useful is if all merchants would accept payment through facecash, and so im wondering how do vendors accept payments through this, if they aren't using your service ?
just install everything yourself on a vps. linode is $20 for its smallest instance. EC2 for a small instance for uptime during a month is about $80. This is all dependent on your traffic.
first root your phone ( its easy don't worry ) - superuser, Juice Defender, setCPU, chrome to phone, google goggles, google voice, Unified Remote ( for media center pc), Link2SD, Wireless Tether, Titanium Backup, Quick Settings, Power Control Widget, Audio Galaxy ( plays your music off of network drives), Qik ( live video ), Twidoryd, Dropbox, Springpad ( along with chrome extension ) , google docs, and of course google navigation and gmail.
have to agree, beautiful commercial. As there are services that try to replicate memory storage. I hope that a gmail account will still be alive and kicking 20 years from now, when my daughter can appreciate everything I've archived.
I think the biggest problem is that Apple has created the behavior of going to the appstore to find stuff, and until startups and developers stop going this route, or Apple really starts doing what they say, and promote HTML5 apps.. then the transition will be slow.
Having a linux desktop and mac laptop, I prefer my linux box, and probably will not get a mac again in the future. I do Java and Ruby dev. Apple basically won't commit to java in the future. Apple updates do cost money ( not incremental updates) as well as most of their software. Now I'm not saying there are not free ones, but I want utility not eyecandy in most aspects ( and I understand people will probably not agree with that point) and the repository pretty much I can find what I want. In order to use a lot of the tools I want, I need to use macports or fink. Paths to hardware upgrades are going to be some what easier on hardware thats not mac, probably along with price of hardware. I use mainly cloud/web utilities for things like google apps, calendar, and email.. I don't care for a lot of the native mac apps, I really can't think of a single mac app that I use that isn't available on ubuntu.. but the good examples are things like iMovie and garage band. I really don't understand the point of development being more enjoyable, you're going to be living in a text editor and hopefully you understand commands to run things without a gui ( example would be code repository ). Also part idealism as well for me, I like be a supporter and advocate, and when if I have a chance to educate people and be interested in alternatives, I'm all for it.
As others have stated I think its what you do outside of development. Also you can look at the osx86 project if you're adventurous.
do this. I've also been in your position.
1. If they ask for example how they could of made the experience more positive for you, theres nothing wrong with providing honest feedback and I imagine would be welcome.
3. Two weeks is the standard, but yes you will have to do whats best for you and your new opportunity. I wouldn't jeopardize your new opportunity, in case they ask if you can stay a little longer than expected.
4. Thank you email along with contact info. You never know what happens down the road.
