mikeaskew4··on Chicago artist creates tourism posters for city's neighborhoods
Yes, and it’d look like total crap. People eating NY slices, wearing Dolphins jerseys under palm trees in front of mountains.
mikeaskew4··on Chicago artist creates tourism posters for city's neighborhoods
With both Fox’s and Milano’s, I don’t know how anyone in Beverly/Morgan Park/EP doesn’t have pizza at least twice a week.
mikeaskew4··on Chicago artist creates tourism posters for city's neighborhoods
Good luck. The Malört is as bad as advertised.
mikeaskew4··on Chicago artist creates tourism posters for city's neighborhoods
Don’t forget Backdraft.

South Shore Line ones, too…which may have also been WPA style. I should look that up…
mikeaskew4··on Claude's Cycles [pdf]
Claude repeatedly insisted I give up on parsing a relatively vague object recently. When I got more specific, and pressed it to continue, not only did it work, but Claude seemed amazed. Ugh.
mikeaskew4··on Every tech commercial in this year's Super Bowl sucked
Totally agree.

It’s all the same to more than most people.

And I don’t think anyone’s going to switch to Anthropic because of ads. They’ll switch because it’s a better product.

mikeaskew4··on Every tech commercial in this year's Super Bowl sucked
Agreed, but seemed like it was only funny if you’re an AI power user.

Presumably the general population is more concerned about data privacy than ads (as part of a service). Seems like sowing distrust in any form is a bad move for everyone.

mikeaskew4··on Every tech commercial in this year's Super Bowl sucked
Not just high, demolished.

mikeaskew4··on OpenAI to Take a Percentage from Customer AI-Assisted R&D Outcomes
Cant wait for the lawsuits on this one. Hoo boy
mikeaskew4··on Electricity use of AI coding agents
I have a kids and a dishwasher (which with kids, runs quite often) but I’m not convinced I’m doing worse at energy consumption
mikeaskew4··on Drivers divided on 'American Autobahn' plan to pull speed limits of highways
For a lot of Americans the speed limit is only a suggestion, so have it AZ.
mikeaskew4··on Netflix earned $1.5B from ads in 2025
Still can’t the rabbit ears to pick it up…
mikeaskew4··on Being creative requires taking risks
Great read. Eno is happier for those choices. And in Oblique Strategies, if you get the same card and tune in to it differently than before, you are on the right path.

by 2060 React Native should be up to v0.93
mikeaskew4··on Ask HN: Interior design apps – are they still worth building today?
Been working on something like this for two years, actually 4 if you count the lead up from idea to the tech becoming available and the time to go after it…

The trick to success is finding out how to get people to pay for it.

The problem of “how does this look?” really does get people stuck, but the process of figuring out the answer is both subjective and escapable—we often run out of time and just settle.

Keep at it. Hit me up if you’d like to chat more.

mikeaskew4··on Lego unveils a technology-packed Smart Brick at CES 2026
No thanks, I like my legos to run on imagination.
mikeaskew4··on The Idiocy of Equating AI with the Dot Com Bubble
It is dumb to equate AI with the dot com bubble. Failure stands to make it way more catastrophic. Now that so much more of the world is plugged in, the chips are much higher.

Shouldn’t the same go for Waze and Google Maps?
mikeaskew4··on CBP Removes Scheduling Functionality in CBP One App
"CBP remains dedicated to efficiently processing applicants for admission at U.S. ports of entry while upholding U.S. immigration laws."

To be kind, there are at least four typos in there.

mikeaskew4··on The number of exceptional people: Fewer than 85 per 1M across key traits
rightly said.
