Recur.ly looks a little pricey. Wepay does recurring billing, but not recurring payments.
Thanks, though!

A person of below average intelligence who has studied chess for years and years could beat a genius who took up the game a week ago.
In my book, they got it exactly right.
My parents watched a lot of PBS or National Geographic type documentaries with me as a child. It gave me a view of the world outside of mine.
Internships. I did mine in my late college years but if you can start kids in high school, again it gives them a view of the future (possibly THEIR future) and great insight on paths to take.
Best of luck to you!
A while back there was this post about launching a minimally viable product in 3 hours. http://blog.amirkhella.com/2010/09/21/the-story-of-keynotopi... 3 hours and he's making money! What am I doing wrong?
Nothing. Take a look around his site. He is already an extensive expert in the field of user experience, with numerous successes under his belt. I am sure those successes were the product of a lot of education and years and years of hard work. He already has quite a following on his blog due to those successes. There was a lot that went on before he could start marketing something and sell it right off the bat.
Last summer I saw Michael Franti in concert. You may know him as the overnight success that had the song "Say Hey" if you listen to pop radio at all. (It has been in numerous TV shows, a Corona commercial, It was one of the songs played during Oprah's last show, etc.) I happen to know him as an artist who traveled from festival to festival year in and year out. Sometimes playing to a couple hundred people. Even before success, he was a world traveler, has played with indigenous people in the bush of third world countries with no electricity. He was a successful spoken word performer and has been in several bands that rose and fell long before he current lineup. I think he had released about 10 or 11 albums with various groups with virtually no mainstream success before the album that included Say Hey. At the concert I saw him at, he mentioned the press he was getting at being an overnight success and added, "yeah, with 20 years in the making."
So I guess you could say that Michael probably made hundreds of thousands of dollars for singing that 3 minute song. But there was a lot that went on in his life to get him there.
"this is clearly users' favorite feature."
Your description is a bit vague, but here is what I am thinking. I am wondering if these folks were not going to buy anyway, but they stop to "engage" this feature because it has gee-whiz appeal. So basically you are presenting non buyers with a toy and since they are not busy with the task of buying anyway, they play with the toy.
Be careful. Correlation does not (always) imply causation.
I am learning RoR right now. Could I occasionally send you a quick email asking for clarification on something or help if I get stuck?
Please let me know what you think. Thanks for the offer!
Ads. Yeah, they will be closing the browser as soon as their phone rings, but you will still have them for a bit before then.
Make them watch an ad before they can input their number and make the call.
Charge them to call the phone. Maybe the first time is free, $0.25 thereafter. Or possibily make it so you can call the phone once by manually typing in the number, but if you want to do it again, it requires the number again and a captcha. But for a fee the system will call the phone, wait 1 minute and redial the number automatically--maybe 10 times or until the phone is answered. (I suggest this because I know I have hit "send" on my computer to send my missing phone a text message then sprinted into the living room to hear if it beeps there, send another and sprint into the kitchen and listen, etc...)
Become an affiliate for similar services which charge a monthly fee.
Ads for new phones, contact backup services, etc. (Make the ads easy to find again once they have realized they cannot find their phone and come back to your site.)
Make them agree that you can sell their number to telemarketers. Or to a cell phone company who will cold call them about needing a new phone. Charge $0.50 to opt out.
Good luck!
While I cannot remember the syntax off the top of my head, I am pretty sure I could write out how to do this in BASIC. I have not had a programming course in 22 years. Maybe there is hope for me.
