michaelawill··on Ant mega-colony takes over world
You sound unimpressed. But do you really feel you could take humans from all around the world and put them together without them trying to kill one another?
michaelawill··on Your Résumé Won't Get You Hired
I always thought the point of a resume was to get you an interview. Then it's your job to get yourself hired.
michaelawill··on Techcrunch misleading about dangers of using "tweet" in names
You're missing the point entirely. The story wasn't STOLEN. It doesn't exist at all.

TC wants a dramatic story. And the only way to make it credible is to hide what they are talking about. Once the site in question was revealed, their article became laughable.

michaelawill··on [dead]
I enjoyed it. Who is he trying to flame? Annoying flash advertisement companies?
michaelawill··on RIP Michael Jackson
And if they died, they'd prolly get a post on the front page here for an hour or so.
michaelawill··on Url Shorteners: Destroying the Web Since 2002
http://tr.im/ has become my favorite. It's the shortest one I've seen and actually has a name that makes sense.
michaelawill··on Problems are solved by sleeping
It's funny you brought up crap. I keep a notebook in my bathroom. I tend to get more ideas there. No Joke.
michaelawill··on Ask HN: Best website to register your domain name?
Good advice, I ended up reading a long slashdot comments thread and 2 different hacker news threads and ended up going with gandi.net
michaelawill··on Introducing Yip: A Unified Notification System for the Web
F that!
michaelawill··on Channel 4 to Make its Entire Catalogue of TV Programs Available Online for Free
It's funny it doesn't mention UK in the title. When I first read it I was a little confused. Here in the US channel 4 could be completely different even 10 miles apart.
michaelawill··on UN announces launch of world’s first tuition-free, online university
That I understand. But usually when a huge business (oil/pharma) is threatened with a cheaper alternative, (batteries/generics) people die in car accidents and the alternative quietly goes away. I guess it's not at the point of threatening to steal much business at this point.
michaelawill··on UN announces launch of world’s first tuition-free, online university
How can the profit structure allow this to exist?

I would think the right people would already be dead.

michaelawill··on Ask HN: Have you ever felt inferior for not being from a name-brand college?
Sometimes I feel inferior to those that went to school at all. But then it passes and I realize I have no loans to pay back.
michaelawill··on Bing challenges Google
They call it a side-by-side comparison of the results.. that at least would make sense. These windows are too small to make doing a comparison easy and it's one on top of the other..
michaelawill··on Ask HN: Review our startup: Tonido
I'm not sure I expected the site to look that amazing. Awesome job!

I really like the idea behind the software to. I can't wait to hear about you in the news down the road :)

michaelawill··on Help me choose: A new development language/platform.
One of my friends uses this at his work to pretty good affect. The price of the software kind of scares me off though.
michaelawill··on Help me choose: A new development language/platform.
I'm 26 and starting to realize how boring most video games are now adays. I played WoW for 4 years and gave that up 6 months ago. Tried some other games and really have seemed to lose most of my interest in them. Right now I'm playing wiiware, the new FFIV sequel. It's very short and I'm taking my time with it. But with all this free time I hope to set out and master a new language/platform and make a few sweet applications to impress higher ups.

I'm having trouble finding some examples of web apps created with Mozart. Could you point me in the right direction?

michaelawill··on Help me choose: A new development language/platform.
When I was younger I was like that and I still get that way when I hear about new platforms and see what people have created using them. I waste a lot of my free time on video games and I want to branch out and expand my knowledge/experience. I feel I should go with 1 language/platform at a time because that's the quickest route to returns in my current job.
michaelawill··on Help me choose: A new development language/platform.
Maybe I just need to learn ways to make my applications look less generic. Whenever I hear about some new development platform I feel like maybe I'm pigeon-holing myself by sticking with Visual Studios. I want to be a valued contributor and no better way to do that than to create applications that WOW those above you.
michaelawill··on Seattle tops Boston as North America's No. 2 tech spot
An amazing company called QL2 is based out of Seattle. It's not a startup though.
michaelawill··on Ask HN: Why do airlines still use "black boxes" ?
Why don't they make the whole plane out of the black box?
michaelawill··on Tell HN: I think I'm quitting my job today
My job is pretty depressing and very boring. They also have a hiring freeze in place. My job is very secure because I do things for the company that requires a skill that isn't easy to find.

Unfortunately however I have no college degree. I got lucky landing this job straight out of high school and even though I'm pushing 5 years of experience from this job I really doubt I could easily find another one outside of retail/fast food even if the market wasn't the way it was.

/sigh
