As in? MZ as a verb can be interpreted too many ways

mi_lk··on The worst programmer I know
This^^ The article depicts it like it's an either-or when in real world capable engineers can consistently do both
mi_lk··on Meta AI releases CoTracker, a model for tracking any points (pixels) on a video
Why do I feel like I read this before? Did you comment the same somewhere else
mi_lk··on Let Go (2011)
> by setting up a simple 30-second delay

anyone knows an easy way to set this up from laptop?

mi_lk··on Writing a Package Manager
FWIW, cynically speaking, more often than not "I really don't see why ..." roughly translates to "You don't know what you are doing ..." in business dialogue
mi_lk··on Structured logging with slog
Q: what do people use for structured logging in Java?
mi_lk··on LK-99 isn’t a superconductor
I'm not aware of it, anything to read about the said third party?
mi_lk··on Uber posts first quarterly net profit
> It's trivial to create these "automate contract labour" apps

Just another HN Tuesday I see. It’s so easy that it’s still duopoly in US since the inception of the market.

mi_lk··on Cap'n Proto 1.0

Why a bad idea
mi_lk··on LinkedIn adopts protocol buffers and reduces latency up to 60%

mi_lk··on Fluent: Static Extension Methods for Java
And what’s the benefit of that? Except maybe you can chain it and it looks a bit nicer
mi_lk··on Magit
Do you have plans to merge upstream
mi_lk··on JetBrains Noria
Tell me about it, it’s almost as if there’s no development on it. Or it feels like maybe there’s one person working on it part-time
mi_lk··on JetBrains Noria
If they rest vscode will take their lunch (if not already so to some extent). I applaud their Fleet effort but it’s definitely a reaction to vscode, rather than going the hard way willingly
mi_lk··on JetBrains Noria
I really want to use Fleet but its vim emulator development is so behind it’s barely usable. (No go-to definition mapping for example)

Come on Jetbrains, you’re targeting the developer market, get this right!

mi_lk··on Are you a late bloomer in work or love? Maybe you’re right on time
> Having children later in life has risks for mother and child.

mi_lk··on Java 21: No more public static void main
Lol, the parent is not serious. People who love to hate Java please take a look at the status quo and stop regurgitating outdated arguments.

You can take vim out of my cold dead hands but there’s no way one will be less productive in Java with modern IDEs unless they willingly choose to

mi_lk··on JJ: JSON Stream Editor
Looks like it's because @stedolan goes silent and not delegating the right GitHub repo accesses to the existing maintainers.

He seems to be working at Jane Street though, so if anyone is able to reach him please help the jq community :)

mi_lk··on We will be shutting down neeva.com
Yea, distribution > product (most of the time) is almost startup 101 these days. It's dismissive to think the team and its big-name VCs behind it don't know the importance of distribution
mi_lk··on Lyft to Cut at Least 1,200 Jobs in New Round of Layoffs to Reduce Costs
Where do you get that stat? It's interesting because I think I read that (uber 70, lyft 30) in 2018 when Uber was in deep trouble. After 5 years, Lyft can't do better than that?
mi_lk··on Rust, RR, Neovim: A perfect debug combination
who is behind this shit
mi_lk··on A Case Study on the Uber Alumni Network
Not to undermine the good effort to put those data together. But for reasons the author didn't mention she's ex-Uber who founded Fast which was a disaster to put it lightly

mi_lk··on Neovim 0.9
Probably me but I definitely sense biases in your replies.

Vim ecosystem is 'controlled' by the community not Bram. If Neovim/Lua is not good enough there wouldn't be a fracture in the first place.

The fact that Bram saw the success of Lua with Neovim but insisted on inventing Vim9Script speaks for itself. Yet you somehow manage to blame everything on Neovim.

mi_lk··on Helix 23.03
"not a big deal" and "[Helix] bindings are an improvement" are rather subjective in this case I'm afraid
mi_lk··on Helix 23.03
Same here. Not that having a different editing modal is a bad thing, but vim model is proven so well that I'm not sure why any new editor would choose to die on this hill and not offer vim keybindings for many more audiences.
