mi_lk··on Dear Spotify, please let me unlink my Facebook account
What do you mean that Spotify requires Facebook login, I don't have a fb account and are using it just fine.

E: Missed the past tense. I just checked, you can sign up with your email address.

mi_lk··on Netlify raises $30M to replace webservers with Application Delivery Network
Could someone enlighten me how does Netlify differ from Github pages? If I want to put up a static website, what's the advantage of using Netlify over Github pages?
mi_lk··on Ask HN: Whats the best way to learn C++ for Deep learning?
I'm very much into the last point, do you have more detailed resources/suggestions?
mi_lk··on Why I’m done with Chrome
Is it really a Google reference? Do you have any source for that?
mi_lk··on The Little Typer
Sad because it's not available for free? What is this attitude?

At least local libraries actually buy the book to support the authors.

mi_lk··on Deep learning experiments in OCaml
What a twist.

mi_lk··on Adding Mercurial support to Gitlab
JaneStreet I believe.
mi_lk··on GitLab raises $100M from Iconiq, GV, and Khosla, at $1.1B valuation
I really don't find it convincing. If you pay as much as your competitors, why would talents in expensive areas would be discouraged to apply to your company and go to your competitors?

If you're assuming that big city people would feel bad because the small city people get paid more in terms of cost of living, then I'd say that's a bad assumption. People living in any city should know its pros and cons, why is it up to you to decide that the cost of living is the metric?

mi_lk··on The Rise and Contentious Fork of RSS
You just answer your own question? With RSS you'd only use app when you feel like to involve, but social media platforms generally want you to stay in the app, hence no incentives.
mi_lk··on The Rise and Contentious Fork of RSS
If the /rss query always return the current front page order articles, then I wonder how RSS subscription services work to mark some of them read and some not.

Should probably need to know how RSS actually works.

mi_lk··on The Rise and Contentious Fork of RSS
How does hn decide what articles to put on rss?
mi_lk··on Ask HN: What's a starting point for learning how to write programming languages?
Second Beautiful Racket. Good writing and approachable content.
mi_lk··on Apple, Huawei Both Claim First 7-nm Smartphone Chips
What does SoC stand for?
mi_lk··on Microsoft intercepting Firefox, Chrome installation on Windows 10 Insider build
Does MS really sell data to anyone? Seems to me whatever data they collect would be used internally, e.g. to improve products.
mi_lk··on The Tools I Use to Write Books
On the other hand, I'm glad Knuth didn't have such calm voice in his head 40 years ago...
mi_lk··on Ask HN: Types of questions to ask team members before accepting role?
If asking working hours means being flagged as not committed, I would seriously question the quality of the interviewee and subsequently the company.
mi_lk··on An ode to Apple’s awful MacBook keyboard
I use 3-finger drag and 4-finger swipe to navigate spaces.
mi_lk··on An Intensive Introduction to Cryptography
Somehow I have zero surprise that it comes from Japanese researchers.

I suppose authors provide contents and the publisher hire illustrators to draw?

mi_lk··on A Conversation with Paul Graham [video]
Cryptocurrency, obvs.
mi_lk··on Procrastination is more about managing emotions than time: study
Couldn't have said it better. Having high standards isn't bad per se, but you need extreme mentality to get there without getting frustrated then dying along the way, end up nothing.
mi_lk··on Goodbye VSCode, Hello Emacs Again
After fighting with lsp-mode on c++ and python, finding out they just work™ in vscode gives me the opposite thought. Still love living in Emacs though.
mi_lk··on Toyota Investing $500M in Uber in Driverless Car Pact
Curious, what makes you claim that?
