megamindbrian2··on Write – A word processor for handwriting
Awesome tool! God my handwriting is awful. Can it learn and convert it to text?
megamindbrian2··on JupyterCon: I don't like Notebooks [slides]
I wrote a loader for this. And there are tools to split cells for compiling. I wrote a tool to split up cells too and compile in order. Pretty easy, all the code is in notebooks.
megamindbrian2··on The NSA Continues to Violate Americans' Internet Privacy Rights
Good. Privacy isn't a right.
megamindbrian2··on Ask HN: What do you still use Facebook for?
Some family members only respond over messenger. I log in, switch to desktop mode, and use messenger from Android chrome.
megamindbrian2··on The Peter Principle is a joke taken seriously. Is it true?
They knew how to have a better attitude about it than me. Didn't last long.
megamindbrian2··on The Peter Principle is a joke taken seriously. Is it true?
My manager at Charles Schwab said "managers don't know anything"
megamindbrian2··on The Future of Notebooks: Lessons from JupyterCon
I wrote an importers for notebooks that laods and runs the cell based on keywords I'm the markdown.
megamindbrian2··on Privatizing Poverty
How did it get this way?

Why doesn't Department of Economic Security fix this?

megamindbrian2··on Tired of Dirty Dishes and ‘Hacker Houses,’ Millennials Revamp Communal Living
Also, I assume this is for single people since the documentary I saw about HubHaus was very adamant about having zero privacy which means no love making for married couples.
megamindbrian2··on Tired of Dirty Dishes and ‘Hacker Houses,’ Millennials Revamp Communal Living
I would have liked to know more about their acceptance process.

As someone who has written about living with roommates. I had one girl who looks normal wearing a long dress for the interview. Three days later we learn she's a convicted criminal on house arrest for kidnapping. She screams on the phone, cussing, for 12 hours in her room. Late at night watching movies on loud speakers and cooking at 3 am in the morning.

How does HubHaus fix this? Is there a voting system like the island where the most awful roommate is voted out each month? What are the consequences when a roommate works until 4 am and comes home and wakes everyone up 2 hours before their alarm for work?

megamindbrian2··on The Fallacy of Imposter Syndrome
Thank you, I hope the imposter that took over my brain pats me on the back.
megamindbrian2··on GM’s Mark Reuss: ‘Make no mistake, we’re moving to a driverless future
Are any of these companies doing anything to improve public transportation?
megamindbrian2··on Docker cannot be downloaded without logging into Docker Store
Thanks for the shout out. Is there a good tutorial you could recommend for containerd?

I am looking for features similar to Norton Ghost bust faster than waiting for installers every time I build.

megamindbrian2··on Not enough people are paying attention to this economic trend
Like what will happen to real estate and diamonds when all the baby boomers die?
megamindbrian2··on The un-celebrity president: Jimmy Carter shuns riches, lives modestly
His privilege is showing. Just like only 10% of the America is rich, only 10% of the world has at most a lower class American standard of living.
megamindbrian2··on College vs. Work
Colleges should hire more. Or rather, businesses should hire colleges to do their research as a part of the curriculum. Like a 4 year long Capstone that goes along with your path to a degree. Teachers could use this investment to provide contextual examples in all STEM classes.

For example, I learned what linear regression was pretty early on in algebra, but I didn't understand how it can be used in image processing until a year after college.

Could the math teacher show one simple example with a graph, one CS sort of example with an image, and a stats example for business economics?

Agree?

megamindbrian2··on Why Do Keynote Speakers Keep Suggesting That Improving Security Is Possible?
There aren't enough doctors in medicine to go around. There probably aren't enough doctors (as in PhD) in all the other technology industries supporting medicine.
megamindbrian2··on Why Do Keynote Speakers Keep Suggesting That Improving Security Is Possible?
My understanding of regulated industries (e.g. CE products sold internationally) there are two sides of the coin.

1) properly understanding history as a motivation for risk management and properly funding that quality control.

2) technical ability to implement solutions to the risks identified from step one.

For example, the founder of the company that designs and builds a medical device does not necessarily understand the negatives of pressing CTRL+ALT+DELETE when the software from the manufacturer freezes. People can do so many things wrongly in just a few simple steps.

We can think of dozens of ways to fix the problem but the C levels might only understand 0.5 to 1 of those solutions.

There simply isn't enough quality work going in to a proprietary/closed system that is profit driven.

In my little dream world if all businesses were open-source (code, process, profit margins, all of it) we'd be better at building off of past work and innovation would literally be cheaper. Maybe it's a pipe dream.

megamindbrian2··on 24-core CPU and I can’t type an email
Malwarebytes and McAfee cause this. Something to do with updating policies.
megamindbrian2··on Network-Based Businesses Will Disrupt All Sectors of the Economy
I win. I had economy, disrupt, network, crypto and "tech industry" all in a row down the left hand side.
megamindbrian2··on Network-Based Businesses Will Disrupt All Sectors of the Economy
Time for buzzword bingo!
megamindbrian2··on Traveling the World on a Third World Passport
My wife is an immigrant from Poland. There is a lot of truth in this article. Governments discriminate against other governments A LOT and the citizens pay the price for that. In the US it would be considered illegal to take a Puerto Rican to jail for not having a passport, but there are cops dumb enough to think Puerto Rico is not a part of the US.

Contrarily, many countries discriminate against people with a US passport. There is a hidden resort fee just for foreigners that hotels all around the world charge, but if you speak the native language, you can bypass the fee.

megamindbrian2··on NYU Makes Tuition Free for All Medical Students
This sounds like government should pay people subsidiaries directly. Like an HSA but for more than just health. If you use the account for school it's tax free otherwise there are fee or the transaction is declined. How much more amazing would service from utilities be if they had to go through customer to get the same subsidiaries they get now.
megamindbrian2··on 5 month – 5 products – $5,000 revenue
I like the sheet to site idea. I've made a few importers from sheets to web, so this looks useful to me.
megamindbrian2··on Freedom Isn't Free
It costs folks like you and me.
megamindbrian2··on [dead]
Digit.co
megamindbrian2··on Japanese students create VR experience of Hiroshima bombing
Come on, no one else sees this as a double standard?
megamindbrian2··on Ask HN: How would you design an enterprise (B2B) user permissioning system?
Something to do with Posgres row-level-security as an ACL would be amazing. Otherwise Identity Server is a good foto for in house, and AWS AMI for serverless.
megamindbrian2··on Basic Jobs Are Better Than Basic Incomes
I want a basic job.
megamindbrian2··on Zero Lives Remaining (Alexis Ohanian)
I wish I could work at Reddit. Writing bots to help people communicate in a ranked forum sounds fun.
