From the sounds of it, they had plenty of cities lining up to get Fiber from Google. I would assume that, at least in those cities, they wouldn't face too many regulatory hurdles. So, what's stopping Google from expanding into the willing cities? Is it the expense of digging up all that last mile infrastructure? Is that the limiting factor?

You have to judge it in context. If it's entirely a senior team then the value of code reviews is greatly diminished. You rarely catch a bug in a bug review when you're reviewing a Senior software engineer's code. those bugs aren't caught until you do testing.

Yes, when your probability of getting any value out of shares goes down, that's tantamount to a reduction in compensation.

When equity and total compensation go down that's a sign of oversupply of talent, not undersupply.

I would say B is right on the money. But, A and C. I don't see it. There's a vast oversupply of time and talent. Just look at producthunt. The ratio of attempts to successes is enormously staggering. This indicates a huge vast amount of talent and time. The biggest problem is lack of opportunity: due partially to incumbents, regulation, etc.

The explanation for BS jobs is that the economy is not nearly as "efficient" as we hope that it may be. Incumbents at the top, stay at the top, regardless of how inefficient they may become. A number of forces including government and regulation, and barriers to entry confound to reinforce the position of mega incumbents that simply stay at the top forever.

On the plus side, I'm hopeful that the rise of BS jobs will increase work life balance.
