Only three big companies. There's got to be a point when these mergers hurt competition. I like T-Mobile because it offers cheaper postpaid plans without a contract. I don't think AT&T offers these and their plans are generally more expensive.
There are many reasons people like vim and emacs, not because they want to "say they are cool and roots." They're both simple, in their own way, but extensible and powerful. And for all the different tasks that you need a text editor, it's nice to always be able to use same thing.
I'm a fan of the way it exposes and emphasizes metadata. And it's smart playlists are awesome. Really, it's just a great organizational tool (for music). And it starts up pretty quickly on my mac (so it doesn't feel crufty).
I don't think this has anything to do with that dispute (at least on Apple side). Rather, Apple wanted to lose the responsibility of bundling Java with Mac, but they couldn't abandon Java altogether.
There's faults on both sides. The guy is clearly in the wrong by failing to follow the copyright restrictions, but it was probably an honest mistake. Since he's spending to much time on the book, he's probably a fan of Zed's work. And he may be thinking he's adding value to the book. On the other side, Zed was completely within his rights to ask the guy to take repository down, but didn't need to make any assumptions about the guy's intentions or "class".
fun game: try to see how many particles you can trap in a corner while the rest of the logo stabilizes. I can get two easily and have almost gotten three.
