medv··on Fx – Terminal JSON Viewer
Thanks for the feedback. Will try to address it in future releases.

Yes pgdown behaviour need to be refactored. Home/end is easy to add.

> If you remove the alphabet key shortcuts you wouldn't need the (non-discoverable) dot. :)

I did not get this one.

medv··on Fx – Terminal JSON Viewer
This is ridiculous. I will not change my domain because of someone’s blocklist.
medv··on Fx – Terminal JSON Viewer
Yes and both can be expressed in js and jq. Poinjt is what JS is known by much more peopel. As fx uses Node or Deno we for example can use lodash in fx:

    fx '_.groupBy("commit.author.name")' '_.mapValues(size)'
       '_.toPairs' '_.sortBy(1)' '_.reverse' '_.take(10)' '_.fromPairs'
To do if in jq, it will take me much more time and extensive documentation reading.

Will update the docs. But it is easy:

    FX_THEME=2 fx data.json
medv··on Fx – Terminal JSON Viewer
Hey HN friends!

I've taken `fx` back to the drawing board and completely rewritten it from the ground up. Excited to share what's new:

1. *Going Big*: `fx` now gracefully handles even the most massive JSON files.

2. *A New TUI Look*: Dive deep into your data with a revamped terminal interface—now with themes!

3. *Swift Navigation with Dig Fuzzy Search*: Feeling lost in JSON? Just type `.` and navigate with ease.

4. *Powerful Regex Search*: Scan across your entire JSON content with precision.

5. *Elegant Long String Wraps*: No more cut-offs. Your strings wrap beautifully now.

6. *All Things JSON*: Added love for comments, trailing commas, and JSON streams.

Pouring my heart and soul into this rewrite has been a journey to make `fx` faster and more powerful. If you find value in what I've crafted and want to support its future, consider sponsoring on GitHub.

Would love to hear your thoughts and feedback!

medv··on Browser extensions spy on you, even if its developers don't
Google Chrome Store actually pretty good at detecting malware and spyware.

Also forbids code downloading from external sources.

So downloading from the store should be more secure.

You can easily compress photo to 1kb with losses. But for recipes it’s acceptable. I think you should do it.
medv··on Show HN: Webpod – deploy Next.js to your own server
Hey HN, I'm the one behind Webpod. Some of you might know me from my previous stint at Google where I worked as a Site Reliability Engineer (SRE). I've been building developer tools for over a decade, and I've put my heart and soul into creating tools like google/zx, deployer, expr, fx, and many others that you might have come across. I've worn many hats - frontend dev, backend dev, SRE - and I believe that's given me a unique perspective on things. It's like standing at the crossroads of all these experiences, seeing how they intersect, and then building something awesome from there.

Recently, I parted ways with Google (got laid off, to put it bluntly) and I thought, "Why not use this as an opportunity to do what I truly love?". So here I am, bootstrapping my own startup and doing my best to help developers like you and me.

Webpod is my latest creation and I'd really appreciate it if you could check it out and provide any feedback. Constructive criticism, brutally honest reviews, all are welcome. Let's keep building awesome things together, folks!

Not that interesting.

medv··on Fx v27
Fx can do thinks jq can't:

    echo 12345678901234567890 | deno run https://fx.wtf
Or promises with curl:

echo '"https://medv.io/*"' | npx fx 'fetch' '.text()'
JSON comments and tailing commas:

    echo '[1,/* tailing comma */]' | deno run https://fx.wtf

medv··on Show HN: Llama – Terminal File Manager
Yes, it should be configurable in terminal app. iTerm2 for example allows it.
medv··on Show HN: Llama – Terminal File Manager
Yes, should be easy to add mouse support.

Right now, in preview mode, mouse wheel is working.

medv··on Codeberg is moving and what this means to you
Off topic: what’s the difference b/ codeberg and github, gitlab, bitbucket?

What does it mean “free”?

If github not an option, host your own gitea. How switching domains will help?
