I think GitLab is a reaction to the problems GitHub has, to me it IS the response to the letter, though maybe not the one you'd first expect!

I've recently made an iOS App that integrates with GitLab. The people at GitLab have been incredible, they respond to my issues, improve the API with every release, I didn't expect this level of awesomeness when I started the project.

What's great about GitLab, there's a release on the 22nd of each month, so you can depend on pretty much continual improvement. Even if you don't think GitLab is suitable for your Open Source project, talk to the team on their issue tracker, things get solved pretty quickly!

This is speculation, unless you have inside information, UXKit could well be under active development - we don't know.

Language features like guard have improved the robustness of my production Apps. Eventually Swift forces you to unwrap your optionals, and this encourages you to inspect them more closely.

There's no additional costs for using private repo's in Trident! :)

For Trident, Private/Private repos work the same - though for GitHub in particular you must have a paid account for Private repos.

Hey ptlab, it's something I'm very seriously thinking of adding to Trident, GitLab has recently introduced a built-in CI with a nice REST API I can use. It's not mentioned on the website yet because it's not a released feature.

GitLab.com connections aren't working in this release, unfortunately I bundled the App with a SSL certificate that was due to expire! :'(

There will be an update very soon to fix this.

Self Hosted GitLab connections should be fine.
