My first thought is that it saves alot of screen switching/resizing while demoing or live coding from terminal. Fullscreen presentation until I need to show something, ^Z it into the background and run my demo or open up vim and do something, then pull it back up to where I left off without having to mess with windows or font sizes while the audience hangs on dead air. I don't know how much of a problem that is in reality though.

Oh really? I can see that I suppose, but I always found it kind of nice that they enforce a very specific style. It makes it so that all Go code I see is consistent and clear. Same with the way they do documentation.

I guess it does take some of the aesthetic or artistic quality out of it, but in practice it's never bothered me. On the contrary, not having the option removes quite a bit of mental overhead on what (to me) comes down to a fairly religious but ultimately inconsequential viewpoint.

I've become a Go convert and love coding in it, but for mobile devices with limited resources that are often used for gaming, Rust seems like it'd get more mileage because of its slightly more hands on approach to memory.
