What about lockheed martin, boeing and blue origin then. They also recruit from the same pool of engineers. LM/ULA gets paid even better with their cost+ contracts. LM/ULA even after getting paid handsomely are way behind in terms of cost/kg or human launchers.
India has tricky labour laws, bureaucracy, land issues and labour unions to deal with when manufacturing at scale. But, it isn't unsolvable problem. Samsung, Xiaomi, Hyundai etc. manufacture millions of phones, tvs, cars etc. in India and are quite successful being #1 or #2. That Wistron issue seems more like coordination issue between different contractors when starting up new plant and there was no repeat of that issue.
Exchanging bags of cash? Seriously though, there was an idea floated few years ago about a cruise ship floating at the coast of silicon valley in international waters without paying taxes for companies. It didn't take off though.
Is extradition from Bahamas to US achievable? I would assume SBF core team is in process of moving to countries that would deny US extradition requests.
This is based on multidimensional poverty index(MPI), developed pretty recently. It is a mix of both absolute and relative poverty. Though MPI is used mainly in developing nations.
> This figure considers both the proportion of the population that is deemed poor, and the 'breadth' of poverty experienced by these 'poor' households, following the Alkire & Foster 'counting method'.[1] The method was developed following increased criticism of monetary and consumption based poverty measures, seeking to capture the deprivations in non-monetary factors that contribute towards well-being. While there is a standard set of indicators, dimensions, cutoffs and thresholds used for a 'Global MPI',[2] the method is flexible and there are many examples of poverty studies that modify it to best suit their environment. The methodology has been mainly, but not exclusively,[3] applied to developing countries.
And recent focus on manufacturing. New govt is heavily pushing local manufacturing(atmanirbhar bharat) for last 8 years. Progress is already being felt in some areas, for example in smartphone manufacturing India went from nothing to #2 in world in those years. They are now targeting more phone phone supply chains like pcb, modems etc. and other consumer electronics too.
There isn't enough arable land and fresh water to meaningfully address climate change in the time necessary. Algae farming with sea water might be a good alternative if we could address disposing the the algae without emissions.
It's due to China's Hukou system, a type of caste system, due to which rural workers can't obtain any govt benefits or even housing in cities. This leads to this kind of worker dorm situation.
In India's case it was logistics issue. Initial decision was to keep migrant workers in place and provide them with daily necessities free. Some state govts didn't play ball and cut off electricity and rations. After that it took some time for central and various state govts to run special trains to the people. And it's not thousands of kms, 10s of kms.
Wasm doesn't yet have a GC. So, when you compile languages requiring GC like python or Go, they have to include that GC in the resulting wasm binary, their wasm GC implementation might not be as performant as native either. On the other hand languages like C or rust doesn't have this overhead. This makes wasm binaries from GC languages big in size and will affect their performance.
You can either use lunarvim or nvchad to get started quickly. It's easier to override default bindings, plugin config etc. in nvchad. Or you can use their configuration as reference and pick and choose what you need.
Easy money being available after five years is also uncertain. With covid shock, then global sanction following Russian invasion, and deglobalization following in the wake of these two events, global economy is faces serious uncertainty in coming years.
After using vscode for years, I've tried nvim with lunarvim starter pack and am using it more. Using vscode without mouse is always a problem even with vim plugin. On the other hand, mouse is almost useless in nvim.
Is beaming power through atmosphere even feasible? If it is feasible, why aren't we beaming power at least across sea like Mediterranean for example, where laying cable will be expensive. I always thought space beaming power is just science fiction thing.
What I meant was that you could emulate locked down version that deno or cloudflare provide in your local during development with the granularity of permissions. I though lambda was a full container running app, did they add isolate environment to it?
Security makes more sense for deno when your host your app in serverless v8 hosting environments like deno. They don't even have a way to specify all permissions. v8 isolates are the new cool thing in serverless hosting especially with wasm providing way to run c/rust code on v8. We have to see how this will pan out compared to containers.
Is there an estimate on when they will freeze the core language itself? Are they still making core syntax or semantic changes? I'm planning to take a look at zig for hobby projects and can live with stdlib changing, but have to wait if they are still making wholesale changes.
It's serverless functions. So they should launch those instances on the fly when a request hits that url and that instance will shutdown after some inactivity. Same with all the 50+ edge locations they provide. They only launch an instance instance in particular region, when user hits that region.
