I thought standard practice was now to never store passwords, then use hashes & salts instead?
I was very disgusted when I saw VC firms with billions in AUM put money into things like FartCoin, Digital Twins
The Boomer VCs financed stuff that is genuinely useful, MRI Scanners, Google, Apple Computers, Genetech (brought insulin to the masses).
The milenial VCs fund stuff that is at best convenient to have (Airbnb, Uber) but usually gimmicks, Instagram, Tiktok.
Sam Altman is the master of gimmicks.
He took the GPT model that already existed and wrapped it into chat format similar to Elizer[0]
Got Neural style that existed for a long time and paired it with Studio Ghibli fanatics. [1]
That only does space repetition?
I shared it with a friend and he thought its wasn't that useful.
That made me happy since I knew my secret maybe safe.
Thanks for this reply. Could you recommend any good "hardware tokens"?
I usually feel more knowledgeable afterwards.
What are some good cognitive tests to take (a part from IQ tests)?
This approach relies too much on trust.
If you have data you are seriously sensitive about, its better for you to run models locally on air gapped instances.
If you think this is an overkill, just see what happened to coinbase of recent. [0]

Yes an LLM may generate the TLA+ code even correctly, but model checking is not the end goal of TLA+
TLA+ plus is written to fully under how a system works at an abstract level.
Anyways, I guess you could just read the LLM generated TLA+ code. That would help you understand the abstraction of the system — but is the LLMs abstraction equal to your abstraction.
But vibe coded TLA+ sounds extremely dangerous especially in mission critical stuff where its required like Smart Contracts, Pacemakers, Aircraft software etc
It was meant as a tool for people to improve their thinking and description of systems.
LLM generation of TLA+ code is just intellectual masterbation.
It may get the work done for your boss. But you intellect will still remain bald — in which case you are better off not writing TLA+ at all.
That was just a question based on curiosity. [ladybird's author does alot of Rust so I thought I would ask him]
In no way was I asking for the project to switch to it. I just wanted to know if it would help with the technicality.
How much do I gain from switching to it instead of say, remaining on the Stock Android?
Edit: This looks comprehensive — https://staging.grapheneos.org/features
The marketing BS on their websites say alot of generic, motivational crack.
Could someone help me break down the real bread & butter of these firms and why people give them money?
I wonder what alloy it was made of.
I am surprised it looks in such a good condition after 2,500 years buried in a lump of clay.
Whats does the word "anthropomorphism" mean?
But not just words but also phrases like meaning of "lay of the land"
What exactly are people missing out on by Proton not having this support?
But I don't think you can limit people's wealth and not call it communism.
I think the real problem is abuse of power, not accumulation of it.
Power cannot be eliminated. It will either end up in the hand of politicians (who are genuinely more evil than tech bros) or remain in hands of wealth creators.
What we should do is focus of punishingpeople who abuse thier power.
What should be the maximum of how big someone should be?
Humans are not perfect, whether "big" or "small".
Or a pre-order on Amazon?
The lizard and the Game of life example seem to illustate that you only need one data points to create or "reverse" engineer a an algorithm that "generates" something Equal to the data point.
How is this different from using a neural network and then over fitting it?
Maybe that instead learning trained weights, the Cellular Automata learns a combination of logic (a circuit).
So the underlying, problems with over fitting an neural network (a model being un able to generalise) still hold for this "logic cellular automata"?
Not scams in the sense of swindling money, but that they are appendages of a private or government intelligence network.
If you genuinely care about your customers, can't you simply feel guilty of doxing such sensitive data about them?
Some evil entities what to know when you sleep, wake up or if there is someone else in the bed.
I am not against technology, this can be done responsibly via offline support, self hosting options, E2E Encryption, Homomorphic computing, differential privacy etc.
But I guess implementing those would interfere with the scam i.e the main objective, which is spying on you.
Is this elitist culture in cryptography.
Alot of algorithms are described incomprehensively.
Let me give you an example.
You might get a well documented specification for implementation of ECDSA.
But it will lack something very 2 important concepts.
1. You should only use it with "safe curves"
2. It's does provide you with a list of "Safe curves"
Same goes for Shamir Secret Sharing. You can know how to implement the algorithm.
But there is so much extra "insider knowledge" or "tribal knowledge" that isn't obvious to non-cryptographers, that you need, for it to be secure.
Such knowledge is often (if not always) not documented. It's in obscure forums, papers and blog posts like this one.
There is no comprehensive encyclopedia for cryptography algorithms.
Developers write bad encryption code because cryptographers have bad documentation.
I would blame the cryptographers, not the developers.
