maverick74··on Mozilla Intends to Deprecate OpenSearch
hum...

You know, looking more carefully over the question i came to the conclusion that you're probably right!!!

They're probably wishing a hammer this xmas to hammer themselves over and over and over...

just for the fun of it...

maverick74··on Mozilla Intends to Deprecate OpenSearch
Yeap, Firefox is shooting themselves in the foot on this one, if you ask me!
maverick74··on Ask HN: Why does your web development team not support Firefox?
Yes, developers seem to have something against FF, now that chrome is in town.

We're living in the IE-is-the-only-browser age all over again. Only this time in not IE, but Chrome

Definitely, most humans DO NOT LEARN anything with history!!!

They keep making the same mistakes over and over and over...

Very sad...

maverick74··on Ask HN: Alternative to Skype?
Yes, tox is great and you can have multiple clients, from regular software, like qTox, to web versions.

Jami is also very nice!

Both have an amazing plus side: they are distributed systems.

It's a shame they are not that used by "our friends"

maverick74··on Ask HN: Alternative to Skype?
If you change the userAgent to Chrome it will work.

Add-ons such as Lider's Custom useragent ( https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/custom-user-a... ) solves the problem

maverick74··on Mozilla and Firefox could be about to change the VPN and privacy market
Not only they're maintaining it again, but the number of developers assigned as been increased!

However, they intent the community picks its development up, eventually.

However, for now, thunderbird is being developed by Mozilla again, afaik

(i guess they understood there was the need for an e-mail client and that thunderbird was in a good place for competing.)

I, honestly, see KDE's Kontact as the ONLY decent OS alternative. Too bad it's not of easy install & support on windows... It would be a great e-mail client...

maverick74··on Ask HN: Anyone know how to turn off damn Video Autoplay in Firefox 67?

maverick74··on Ask HN: Anyone know how to turn off damn Video Autoplay in Firefox 67?
?! I believe Firefox 67 should be doing that out of the box!

Have you tried to refresh the browser?

maverick74··on Firefox's Enhanced Tracking Protection whitelists Google, Instagram, Amazon...
ha-hein... psssstt...

Google Container - cof cof + Facebook Container - cof cof

maverick74··on Google Just Gave 2B Chrome Users a Reason to Switch to Firefox
Now, for sure ad publishers are happy with this and for sure will make their services usable only with chrome.

Thank God we can change browser user agents :)

maverick74··on Google Just Gave 2B Chrome Users a Reason to Switch to Firefox
I bet they'll backdown!

There's no way they'll loose control over their users.

This will be changed and they'll find another way to force ads on their users without loosing them.

Wait and see!

maverick74··on Evernote Web no longer works in Firefox
Yeah!!!

That's the way to go!!!

A few years back a lot of brainiacs (myself included) decided to go just the IE6 way!!! And what a shi*ty that ended up being!!!

Firefox came up just at the right time to wake up most of us and get the day saved.

Now tell me of about history repeating itself...

The only detail is that I'm not seeing anyone waking up this time!!! No matter how hard the bell is ringing, the Google Chrome song is just too sweet...

Glad I never forgot who saved the day back then.

Firefox deserved more from today's users. But many are just not old enough or not techie enough to know better.

the funny thing is that all of the IT EXPERTS I know are all using Firefox as their main browser (chrome is just for compatibility check), but no matter how they warn others, no one cares.

Dark times ahead...

maverick74··on Evernote Web no longer works in Firefox
For EverNote, naturally...
maverick74··on Evernote Web no longer works in Firefox
Too bad for them!!!
maverick74··on Ask HN: Alternatives to Android Firefox Browser?
ups... i missed we were talking about Firefox for android!

Still, latest version is fixed.

If you want you may try the VERY experimental version of Firefox Preview ( https://www.apkmirror.com/apk/mozilla/firefox-fenix )

maverick74··on Ask HN: Alternatives to Android Firefox Browser?
yeah... that's really weird!!! v66.0.4 fixed that (there's a 66.0.5 on windows)!

You can try to fix it from about:support, but beware that it might delete some preferences, logins and other things like that...

by the way, you also have GNU IceCat Mobile -> Firefox minus proprietary things plus security measures ( https://www.gnu.org/software/gnuzilla/ )

maverick74··on Ask HN: Alternatives to Android Firefox Browser?
WT...? Addons are already functional again!!! Just update Firefox ;)

https://blog.mozilla.org/blog/2019/05/09/what-we-do-when-thi...

About alternatives: as Ultramanoid said, there is no other decent browser. If you want privacy and respect your only choice is Firefox. Everything else is Chromium based (or as i would put it: "spyware based").

(Edit: You naturally have a few browsers based on firefox as well, such as Tor Browser, Waterfox and so on... but Firefox is the real deal ;)

maverick74··on Firefox desktop market share now below 9%
I'm loosing faith in mankind!

People ARE DEFINITELY DUMB!!!

There is no other choice than Firefox if you value privacy, features and a "company" that does not trick you!
