- "Rubber up 'bruv", in the UK.
- "Rubber a brother" for the US.
Expand to CAAS (contraceptives as a service) when applying for second round, pre-ipo.
I currently "fake it", using "START TRANSACTION WITH CONSISTENT SNAPSHOT", with multiple mysqldump processes running, where I can't get mydumper deployed.
If you were to meet me in person I would just say "Fuck Percona/Oracle and their shitty shit".
Good job though. Anything that helps people move away from Percona and their "tooling" is a plus to me.
Natron is a node-based compositor, there have been many over the last few decades.
Another open source node-based compositor is Blender which also has an non-linear editor.
Lots of compositor customers just buy Nuke, Fusion, AE, etc to process sequences through different commercial plugins; having an open source wrapper to run and control the plugins is an excellent alternative.
MariaDB 10 and onwards has some fun features though if you are stuck with it. The CONNECT and TokuDB storage engines are very useful and interesting. Parallel, Multi-source, and GTID replication with multiple domains is very easy.
If you still really want or need mysql please do check out mariadb, even old versions like mariadb 5.3 onwards added a lot of features and fixes for old problems from before the Sun acquisition (Remember, MariaDB was forked with the Sun buyout or MySQL AB, not Oracle). It's not entirely a drop in replacement though, read the manual and test your configs!
What MariaDB/MySQL is still really good at, is scaling horizontally pretty quickly, just be sure to separate out different schema workloads into different server instances, and don't make your schema overly complex. Not that it can get too complex anyway with SQL/PSM heh-snort snort.
Want to scale bigger and faster, and maybe with an even more highly tuned dataset per-cluster? Cassandra. Lots of Oracle and IBM business is being slurped up by Cassandra and Datastax.
Want mixed database workloads and all the RDBMS management, SQL and PL goodies? PostgreSQL.
It's a desktop environment theme at best, and could be packaged as such. Maintaining a distro for general consumption (it's pitched to new users as "Windows like"), is very hard work and carries a lot of responsibility.
Power may be a bit quicker than Intel, but it's unfamiliar to many. Nvidia is breaking new ground, it's sexy, accessible, and cheaper.
On the software side it's a similar story. Why use their unknown proprietary cloud stuff when I can just make use of the plethora python/julia/clojure/R stuff? AWS is fancy and ever expanding, Softlayer is a PITA.

So long as it doesn't do over night batching, it's already decades ahead. I wish I was joking.
Anyway,Kafka Connect will provide what probably most people are looking for in Samza.
I am pretty sure the only other engines that support online DDL is Sybase and DB2.
Online DDL generally means lock free DDL operations.
Not even Oracle, MSSQL, or Postgresql do online DDL. But at least they have transactional DDL, even if it isn't entirely lock-free all the time.
Compared to InnoDB/XtraDB; TokuDB lacks foreign key support, because this was worked into InnoDB years ago because the MySQL server layer doesn't support any kind of constraints. I am hoping for MariaDB to start implementing more modern SQL features which would this be available in supported storage engines.

And it's just swell.
Softimage is now declared dead by their current owners, Autodesk.

The workstation build they have worked on for a few releases now was a real boon.
Just like OSX, I just get on with it, and I don't notice it.
Split view support sounds good. Let's see how it measures up against things like Spectacle and Amethyst.
