Thanks for sharing Interledger! My post may have come off aggressive but that was not my intention. It was to ensure people don't conflate blockchain with Interledger.

The company I work for, Coil, is specifically looking to enable sites like this have an alternative revenue model that is not based on ads[1]. If you have any questions you can reach out to me matt[at]companyurl

Shameless plug, we are working on Interledger[1]. Which is designed to be an open-clearing system based on packetised payments. It works really well for low value, low-friction payments. Our initial use-case is targeting web monetisation which doesn't work on existing payment rails due to the costs.
Part of the work coming up this year will to be going after the retail payments space and I think the challenges you mentioned are definitely going to be the ones we are going to have to solve next.

Also didn't see any mention of prior art like https://cloud.google.com/beyondcorp/.
Thanks for the great writeup!
This is something the company I work for is (coil.com) specifically trying to help solve through an open web monetization standard.
Currently you have two options for monetization through the web monetization standard. 1. Passive Mode: Add a payment pointer to your website and encourage readers to get a coil.com subscription. This means when they view your site you will get streamed micropayments. 2. 100 + 20 Mode: Where you provide some locked bonus content on your site that is only accessible to them if they are streaming you payments. You can read more about this concept here https://coil.com/p/coil/The-100-20-Rule-for-Premium-Content/...

We almost always reach for AWS, and that comes down to one thing. SUPPORT!
AWS support has been quick at resolving our issues on numerous occasions. GCP, not so much.
Athsee is in it's early days but we have a few features already available for you to try:
- Create posts about your upcoming events to let your followers know when you are competing next
- GPS Live tracking including live photo/video sharing to share your event live and in real time with your followers
- Engagement through following, liking and commenting
The aim is to be a space for all athletes of all sports - currently though the app is optimised for runners and cyclists
Our future plans are to have a space where you can post not only your upcoming events but your results too. The live function will grow to include live posting of an event so that athletes can post commentary along the way.
We are looking for athletes to start using the app and to help us make Athsee everything an athlete wants. We are encouraging feedback - questions, suggestions and anything else to help us make something that you want to use.
My first thought when seeing this was Peter Thiels lecture where he discussed restaurants and why they make bad choices for disruption. Would be really interested to see where/how they go from here.
