marxisttemp··on macOS Tahoe windows have different corner radiuses
Because they’re significant improvements to the way macOS works for power users
marxisttemp··on macOS Tahoe windows have different corner radiuses
I haven’t had a single issue with this. I’m guessing many people had this issue immediately after upgrading while Spotlight was still re-indexing and are just running with it since it’s cool to hate Tahoe right now.

> Firstly, alt-tab

I assume you mean cmd-tab.

>doesn’t consider windows, it considers apps. So if you have multiple browser windows or word windows open, you can’t alt-tab between them. It’s totally confusing.

You use cmd-tilde to switch between windows.

>So I install an app just to get the normal alt-tab behavior of other OSs, to alt-tab between windows (mine is called alt-tab, and it’s a bit buggy and slow, I think they all are)

You don’t need an app.

>Next, Apple does not respect the multiple desktop boundary. If I click on the safari icon in the dock, it will switch to some seemingly random safari window in some other desktop. If I close any window, it will also run off to some other window of the same app in some other desktop (who came up with that behavior?) when I dismiss an outlook notification, it will run of to another desktop to look at outlook (actually I think this one is Microsoft’s fault, but Apple could probably do something about this one). The result is that while working, I have trouble staying on the desktop I’m working on, I constantly am getting sent off to some other random desktop, and have to find where I am and where I was. There must be a better, more productive way to manage windows and desktops.

This is a configurable setting.

>(Also what’s up with the autocorrect, I had to retype every instance of “I think” in this message, because it insists it should be “o think”)

This is a configurable setting.

What is godawful about it? Tahoe is great. Spotlight shortcuts, LLM actions. “Design is how it works.”
marxisttemp··on Bluesky CEO Jay Graber is stepping down
They should focus on implementing ActivityPub instead of their useless proprietary protocol
marxisttemp··on Bluesky CEO Jay Graber is stepping down
Why did you deliberately steal Mastodon’s thunder? Why don’t you support ActivityPub?
marxisttemp··on We Built a Video Rendering Engine by Lying to the Browser About What Time It Is
The posts made by AI tools for writing are getting really tiresome.

You are not clever for using them and you are just filling up the submissions section with useless noise.

Not every post needs to be.

marxisttemp··on We Built a Video Rendering Engine by Lying to the Browser About What Time It Is
The prose here reads like it was LLM-generated.

Short sentences. Plenty of newlines. Enumerate everything. Always.

marxisttemp··on Why XML tags are so fundamental to Claude
XML is much more readable than JSON, especially if your data has characters that are meaningful JSON syntax
marxisttemp··on Statement from Dario Amodei on our discussions with the Department of War
Tim Cook, the guy kissing Trump’s ass? Is that really the example you want to use of a company having principles? A company clamoring to bend their knee to a fascist to avoid tariffs? Lmao
marxisttemp··on Statement from Dario Amodei on our discussions with the Department of War
something something the ideology of a cancer cell. The only goal of a publicly traded corporation is to make the line go up, and the board is required to eliminate anyone who puts other principles before that.
marxisttemp··on Statement from Dario Amodei on our discussions with the Department of War
Some militaries merely protect from other militaries’ attempted massacres. Massacres are certainly what the US military does. I sure hope you don’t support the US military knowing that.
marxisttemp··on What does " 2>&1 " mean?

The DoD is likely and in fact has many times massacred people

I think you mean “couldn’t care less”. “Could care less” implies they care.

Careful speaking truth to power on this site, remember that YC is deeply enmeshed with Garry Tan, Peter Thiel, and of course Paul Graham who as of late has made a habit of posting right wing slop on his Twitter

marxisttemp··on Ladybird adopts Rust, with help from AI
I don’t think I want to use a vibe-coded browser, unless “human-directed” just means that a human coded it and asked clarifying questions to the AI.

marxisttemp··on Show HN: A native macOS client for Hacker News, built with SwiftUI
Why does the comments page look like a web view with some custom CSS? Is it because HN API doesn’t have a way to post comments? You could try using a WebPage[1] to inject the cookies and post comments, and an OutlineGroup to display comments.

marxisttemp··on Show HN: Micasa – track your house from the terminal
I wouldn’t want to use a terminal-only tool with no affordances for cloud sync for home management, something that inherently is likely to involve all members of a household who are likely not all proficient with terminal usage. You should ask your LLM to make something that can run as a home server and have different clients.

I also personally wouldn’t trust the database of all my important home info to a vibe-coded program.

marxisttemp··on Is Show HN dead? No, but it's drowning
This is a forum called Hacker News. It’s for technical people. Perhaps these LLM-generated slop projects could get posted on Product Hunt or somewhere focused on the creative product side of tech and not technical knowledge and discussion
