Very cool.

I noticed the fox demo's wasm_example_bg.wasm is 22MB. That seems large? Is there code splitting?

Also, seems streaming is broken:

wasm_example.js:285 `WebAssembly.instantiateStreaming` failed because your server does not serve wasm with `application/wasm` MIME type. Falling back to `WebAssembly.instantiate` which is slower. Original error: TypeError: Failed to execute 'compile' on 'WebAssembly': Incorrect response MIME type. Expected 'application/wasm'.

A bit of an oldie, but a goodie, highly recommend!

But it doesn't explain what js.window IS. I assume it's implemented via static interop (https://pub.dev/packages/js#staticinterop), but not sure.

Is it out of some secret library they have somewhere, generated from Web IDL? Do I have to implement every function/property on window myself via static interop?

Btw, you can link to youtube with a timestamp: https://youtu.be/yRlwOdCK7Ho?t=1724

Update: I did find this package, which seems to generate bindings from Web IDL: https://pub.dev/packages/js_bindings, but it's not from the Dart team, and prob not what they're using here.

Appreciate all the hard work, great release. Can't wait for wasm, macros, and inline classes. Macros will be such a game changer, avoiding so much boilerplate you have to go through today.

Note that this has not shipped to stable, it's currently in beta.

I read an unqualified "shipped" as "shipped to stable", but maybe that's just me.

I don't see in Sentry where you can set up "Report-To", "NEL" headers.

By what standard was there "No diving"? Do you mean by the standard of "they all dive all of the time, so this wasn't bad relative to that"?

As someone who doesn't watch soccer, saying there was "No diving" beggars belief.

markdog12··on The road to Dart 3: A fully sound, null safe language
Update: One of the Dart devs says it's because macros are higher risk and harder to get right.
markdog12··on The road to Dart 3: A fully sound, null safe language
You're not the only one. They actually started work on macros before pattern/records, but for some reason it seems priority changed. I would have much preferred macros came first.

Yep, Dartium. That ship has sailed years ago.

markdog12··on Chrome Responds "No" to JPEG XL
I posted it because there has been a lot of activity, interested parties, etc.. on https://bugs.chromium.org/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=117805..., waiting for some kind of reply from the Chrome team. Despite interest, it looks like they haven't changed their mind, given the link I posted, and I thought it merited discussion.

A lot of pissed off people in there, and some very good points being made against this decision.

markdog12··on Chrome drops JPEG XL, “not enough interest”
Interesting comment in that thread that's essentially saying the main person involved in the decision is involved with webp and avif:

WTF!? Jpeg xl was looking awesome, with lots of community interest: https://jpegxl.info/

This sucks.

> - There is not enough interest from the entire ecosystem to continue experimenting with JPEG XL - The new image format does not bring sufficient incremental benefits over existing formats to warrant enabling it by default

markdog12··on “Women are wonderful” effect
Related, recent study: https://www.bps.org.uk/research-digest/people-are-more-scept...

> participants had a much less positive response to articles favouring men over women than those that favoured women over men – and, again, this effect was stronger in women, as well as in left-leaning participants

> They also felt more strongly that male-favouring findings should be kept away from girls and not mentioned by teachers and the media.

Similar thing happened to me with Stadia, signed up for free month, cancelled, noticed they billed me 2 months. Pointed it out to them, they said they wouldn't reimburse me. They'll never get a cent from me again.
