This.
We want to live more (and more). But that's not the main point of life, as science (and most religions) say.
We are in our best form when we reproduce and give our best to our children (and family). So they can do the same in the future.
Today's society tries to sell the idea of small families (or no family at all ) and long lives as the best option. But maybe it's not the case.
But i laught a ton with the reading.
Best answer so far.
One thing i do believe is the possibility to mining space (specially asteroids, like this -> "NASA to explore asteroid made of $10,000 quadrillion worth of metal", google it).
I imagine SpaceX and Blue Origins playing a huge part (if not all) in the future of this kind of exploration.
The solution? Reason. I just ask myself: Ok, that was the good part. Now, try to remember the bad ones. Oh you can't? So it's obviously a fake memory pal. There were no such time in my life without difficulties.
"While it might seem like something out of science fiction, it doesn't hurt to crunch the numbers!"
Now we need those numbers.
The money makes sense when you need to scale fast. Specially in the development stage, when you don't make a dime yet.
With the advance of the internet marketing, it's don't make much sense, as you put.
Investors should be moving their money from internet, i think, to AI, Space, Augmented reality and so on. They should fund stuff that is really risky. Turns up ... internet is not risky anymore.
By experience you don't need years on cash to survive in the long run, discipline and a business that makes sense is way more powerful.
But off course, months of runaway is necessary. More than that is luxury.
And your actions play a very important role in the outcomes. Sometimes different are better.
Sometimes i wonder if that's an strategy from the management team to put pressure in the engineers.
Today i look back and think: if i studied and worked more, i would be much far by now. Probably rich. I´m creating an online business where i have to learn and create every day. And yes, i'm very happy doing it and not playing anymore (one year now).
But, what if ... ten years ago, playing World of Warcraft would lead me to a rich life today? What if it paid well to be a Counter Strike player?
I suspect i would be even happier. But that's not the truth of the world. Yet.
In fact it's quite the oppose. What makes games fun is taking what we call reality and make it "closer" and "unreal" at the same time. Like ... "hey, look, i'm shooting a RPG ...". But it's does nothing to do with shooting a RPG, you are just pressing a key and seeing something shining in a block of glass.
Problem with games are that they trick you mind to think something is real. But it's far, very far away from the real. It's just you, sitting at there, imagining things.
We definitely need for example a faster way to transport rich people than cars, but cheaper than planes in short distances.
We definitely need a better way to transport patients between hospitals than ambulances and helicopters.
We need to see the future here, not the past (the outdated idea of 'flying cars')
The moment someone stops producing, he is a burden. He must be carried on by someones else production. The government does not produce anything. The moment he starts handing over cash to people who do not produce, he is transferring the production of someone who works hard to someone who does not.
You want to help those people? Pay them to study, get some skills. Pay then to clean the streets or the public bathrooms.
But for God sake, do not pay them to do nothing. It's unfair with the rest of those who actually work really hard for this handed cash.
But the truth is: money is just a tool, a way to get something.
In your example, there's no point in giving a million dollars to the homeless, it would make much more sense to make the $3 loaf cost 0,3 cents. Now everybody can buy it.
But if you just drop money in the lap of somebody that doesn't know how to produce value and change this value for money, those who produce the real value and owns the means to produce it will still making more money from those who can't produce.
To solve that: take the homeless, provide basic care and opportunities for him start to produce value. Then the money will come.
The article is amazing, and remember us to be humble, because we don't have all the answers and there's a lot yet to be seen.
So there's no answers in the article: only questions.
But hey! This is show business, what we losers can possible know!?
Sometimes i fell anxious the day before a good event, a trip for example.
You know what's frighten me? When i read him, i kinda connect with him, his beliefs, fears, opinions, view points ... his soul. Problem is: guy is (physically) dead for over a decade. But when i read his books, it's like if he is alive.
I started reading Confessions of a Necromancer and boy! it's amazing. I'm sure, deep inside, it's a masterpiece and a way for your mind and soul to survive all difficulties you are facing now.
So you are not dying, indeed, you are probably living more then most of your entire life before. Even if your body is in a bad shape, you true self are getting better and better.
Sorry for saying this like that, but keep up the good job!
Then you drive them to an landing page where you ask for the sale. But right before the purchase, you specify that the product is under development and will be shipped at an specific date. Thanks your "almost costumer" and collect his email for a future launch.
I think the internet is your best tool here, specially if you have some bucks to spend.
Now do i think he is mediocre? No way! Even as a husband only him can tell that, maybe not even his wives. Nobody know how hard it was for him to be in a marriage, or even get to marriage in the first place.
Take again an small entrepreneur from Brazil, India or Africa in a small village. Are they mediocre? Sure, low money, not visible for the world, no New York Times covers.
But how hard it really is to be a entrepreneur when all the education you had when you was a kid was how to ask for money in the streets?
There's no mediocrity there's just this illusion created by the very riches and powerful to make even more money, to create a crazy game to make us feel bad and always keep charging for the carrot.
In the end of the day, it's your job to respect everyone limitations, including yours, and never judge the guys next to you as mediocre, or yourself. You may not get in the history books, but a lot of people around you that need you and your "mediocrity" wont read then anyway.
