Engineers often can't tell the two apart, and have too much ego to not publicly and privately make their manager look bad.
I've never seen two people fight to the death over something meaningless as much as some engineers do. Politics is the end product of multiple people working together with different views. Engineering doesn't save you from it. Engineers who think it does tend to cause more political turmoil in teams than anyone else.
Don't do things those with more political power than you manager don't want done unless someone with even more power publicly tells you to. That doesn't mean you do what they want done but simply that you avoid pissing them off.
Enemies are rarely worth making and the majority of managers will throw you under the bus to save their own skin in that situation.
If this is the reaction of the Ruby Community then no wonder they got themselves into this mess to begin with. Like deciding the intern should be fired for dropping prod and not the CTO who told everyone to use admin permissions for everything.
The natural gas supply among other things. Europe has made itself first dependent on Russia and then on the US for the basic survival of its population.
Extra fun fact, a deep research AI nowadays will actually suggest this as one of the treatments given a few paragraphs of information on the symptoms/medications tried/etc.
The difference is that Dwarf Fortress is not fully opaque to the player. You see a large part of the world so can see the consequences of your actions. And that is what makes it fun.
An opaque world simulator is frustrating and tedious. Eventually someone just min-maxes a way to break it which makes it just a tedious cookie clicker. That's why D&D has a game master that modifies the world's design to align with the players so that everyone has a good time. That is the key difference. An illusion of rigid structure, which requires some actual structure, with opaque flexibility. A simulator is not a fun game. A world where god cheats to make you have more fun time is a fun game. A pre-defined narrative or narrative tress is one such cheat, but not the only one.
