Yes, you can drag and drop images, we're using GDrive API so each user gets 5gb free, but we can always add any other storage service.
magic5227··on Open Source Bug Tracking
Basically the goal is to get something as polished as Jira/FogBugz, but make it free, add a nicer UI, and an API so people can extend it as they like.

If we reach our goal it will be pretty well featured in comparison to other ticket systems, so the design should accomodate everything we want without getting too crazy, as we sketched this all out in advance.

magic5227··on Ask HN: How do you Backup your Personal Files?
Just be careful those of you using sync too much, I've definitely seen people sync across deletes and other errors.

I personally backup about 1tb of home movies, photos, music etc. I keep 1 local HD + crashplan + crashplan remote in a friends house + Google Drive for docs I use daily. I also keep an offline drive just in case an error is replicated across my live drives.

I also used to use BackBlaze but dropped them, they play tricks to get out of storing a lot of content for too long

magic5227··on Sendy - Send Newsletters via Amazon SES
Would be nice to get a sense of how this handles large volumes. I would be wary to try this for anything serious as it might not be set up properly for large volumes 100k, 500k etc. Maybe speaking to this concern would help business.
magic5227··on Droplings for Mac
I built this while at Box, 100% free and works on Mac, PC, and Linux, takes video, screenshots, and shares file(s):

magic5227··on Dropbox close to choosing investors — Round could put valuation at $10 Billion
Um, how is this fair to say? "It is fair to say every user is worth $40.00/year."

Seems like a very unlikely assumption. I know plenty of people who use the service, none are paying, where does the $40 come from?

whyyyy
magic5227··on Add recurring billing to your site. No coding, monthly fees, gateways. Code=HN
Another thought, you should speak in general terms how you can offer a lower rate than a lot of other companies. Its another component people will question, are you not charging enough to stay in business (for example)?
magic5227··on Add recurring billing to your site. No coding, monthly fees, gateways. Code=HN
Suggestion, you need a big fat section on your site that addresses why I should trust you. Integrating a payment system might be easy, but switching to something else if your system is shut down isnt. So my biggest concern moving to something is, what if your product fails for whatever reason, how can I be assured that I can leave easily and that I will get x days of advance notice. Im sure you can plan for this but letting people know that you'll be around for a long time and what happens in a worst case scenario will help.
magic5227··on Find a Great Domain Name (Beta code is YCOMBINATOR)
Its funny cause, domainhole is a terrible name
magic5227··on Recruiters: My fee for referrals is 5%
Box.net takes this approach, we will pay a flat $10,000 for a referral.

magic5227··on Investors Bet Big on Box.net with $48M Round
- we stopped going after consumers at least a year ago, virally refers to how we are growing our business and enterprise accounts which largely has been word of mouth and referrals.
magic5227··on Investors Bet Big on Box.net with $48M Round
The actual headline is much more appropriate. We chose to raise money to grow more quickly and to not have to rely on going public to get funds. We could have continued with less funding (low-cost) but chose not to, so no its not the end of low cost startups, we chose this route :)

Im not sure I follow your math, the rates on that page show the cost. Assume its $20-30 an hour 45 people at $30 an hour is $1350, $5400 for 4. I'm having them play live so they can read through a symphony in half an hour potentially, depending on which one.
magic5227··on Museopen to set classical music "free"
until they pull it for infringement. Also, i want music people can use legally, can you do that with any video on YT?
magic5227··on Museopen to set classical music "free"
Because too many have abused the site with bots and automated scripts. It has literally taken down the site more times than I care to remember.

We also have to keep track of things like who is uploading what for DMCA protection.

Addressed above and apologies Michael

I agree but its a balance, if you want to use Mendelssohn's Italian symphony for an animation, bad or not, you NEED something free. This happened to an animator entering a contest. Its not a perfect recording, but it did the job and is a great example of what we do:

magic5227··on Museopen to set classical music "free"
But thats entirely the point, we arent trying to replace those recordings. Otherwise we really would be threatening commercial viability.

We want open recordings that people can use and not be sued for sharing, and this project is attempting to make them as decent as possible.

@alnayyir

Im defending that you accused me of scraping emails from somewhere. I emailed most of the list because I'm not looking for any specific type of help, and its not like people are mentioning classical music interests in the bios. I need technical and business people.

magic5227··on Museopen to set classical music "free"
You're right, not BCC'ing was a mistake.
magic5227··on Museopen to set classical music "free"
I used the co-founder list...to request a co-founder, I dont know what you mean by various blogs, its in a google doc which you were apparently listed in. Apologies if it was unwanted but please then remove your name from it.

I emailed most of the list as I am not looking for a specific person, anyone that is interested in helping. Its not like there are attributes specifically mentioned that would help me narrow for "someone interested in classical music".

However, it obviously wont happen again :)

I just want to point out, re: all these "instant" things, Google instant is useful not because its instant, but because its finishing queries for you.

Partial queries are not useful.

My 2cents

magic5227··on Museopen to set classical music "free"
Its per hour, and since they know this music so well, we're going to record it live.

They play Beethoven symphonies every year at least 1-2 times
