madman2890··on [dead]
Definitely. There's definitely a story here. The significance of the increase is undeniable. I also agree on the reasons behind things primarily being due to money, greed, and power.
madman2890··on New Neurons for the Brain
Thanks for all of these references. I am checking them out now.
madman2890··on New Neurons for the Brain
I haven't seen any evidence to support the claim that psychedelics other than Ayahuasca catalyze neurogenesis. That being said, there is evidence that LSD increases neuroplasticity. https://www.cell.com/cell-reports/pdf/S2211-1247(18)30755-1....
madman2890··on New Neurons for the Brain
Ayahuasca has also been shown to generate new brain cells which could, theoretically, accomplish something similar. http://beckleyfoundation.org/ayahuasca-stimulates-the-birth-...
madman2890··on “Social network” of brains lets people transmit thoughts to each other’s heads
We also do this via air pressure and the vocal tract with words.
madman2890··on Causal Models
I have been reading through a lot of his papers on causality. The next evolution of AI will be driven by a better understanding and implementation of causal models. AI/ML today is seriously lacking in this area. For this reason, spending time navigating this relatively unchartered territory will be worth the effort.
madman2890··on Things they don’t teach you running a business by yourself
I started a company in south america (American here), and navigating the legal system has been the most life sucking thing ever. The idea was simple enough, but the execution from a legal perspective was something I was completely unprepared for. Also did this completely alone...That being said, the hard part is done ;)
madman2890··on Why Salt Was So Important Throughout History
Thanks for the post. I was just in Seoul and at the Gyeongbokgung museum they had an entire section dedicated to salt, it's history, different forms, and importance. Until recently, in that expo and reading this article, I didn't realize just HOW important salt truly is.
madman2890··on Journey on the Trans-Siberian: St Petersburg
Good to know. I live in Colombia, and the same is true here with respect to Spanish.
madman2890··on Journey on the Trans-Siberian: St Petersburg
Thanks for writing. I'm considering doing the Trans-Siberian this winter.

madman2890··on Ask HN: Is 2018 the end of Facebook?
The U.S. makes up a large part of facebook, but as someone living in south america, it ain't going anywhere in this continent.
madman2890··on Life as a Nonviolent Psychopath (2014)
I think only psychopaths can see that... :o
madman2890··on American using Britain’s NHS (2015)
> Fifteen minutes to see a free doctor! It's not free, the money to pay the hospital bills comes from taxation
madman2890··on Ask HN: Anyone here make a 'comeback' from rock bottom? What is your story?
I was pretty deep into drugs at 21, watched my longest standing friendship pass by from an overdose, and was spiraling out of control. My parents put me in rehab, moved home, and started self teaching computer science from C to python at 22. Landed my first internship gig at 23 after showcasing a few of my self directed projects from web scraping large amounts of data to power a web app to computer vision and I am now a lead data scientist at 27.
madman2890··on Show HN: The best time to visit any city
I'm stoked you built this, as I've had the idea and desired the platform for a while. I do a ton of last minute travel and have semi-unlimited options so it's hard to filter down to the best options that offer what I'm looking for.
madman2890··on Smile – Statistical Machine Intelligence and Learning Engine
There are more python developers than scala developers. There are more python data scientists than scala data scientists. I like the project, though.

The J-1 visa is going away, according to Trump. Just a heads up...
madman2890··on Amazon Worker Jumps Off Company Building After E-Mail to Staff
268,900. That is the number of employees amazon has. According to this article, we should expect 25.2 suicides out of these employees.
madman2890··on How Fake News Goes Viral: A Case Study

madman2890··on Datanectar – project to mitigate friction between data science and engineering
Thanks. Web API access to jobs is provided for free, job output storage schema is defined and handled with s3, and logging persisted to s3. Luigi provides nothing but the skeleton for writing data processing applications. This is a data processing application skeleton that can be forked and expanded upon.
