lukealization··on About 700 Microsoft employees will be laid off next week, sources say
No one is "forcing" you to keep an employee on pay roll. Just be reasonable and give them 4-6 weeks notice of termination of employment, with a valid reason of dismissal.

A concept that is utterly foreign and bizarre to most other people in Western countries, including myself in New Zealand.
lukealization··on Caching at Reddit
Would just like to say, that as a moderator of r/SpaceX, I appreciate your kind words.

Reddit really is a hit and miss barrel of communities. We (r/SpaceX mods) tend to find that a lot of our users don't even bother commenting in other subreddits. I certainly don't. Some of communities and the stunts they pull are downright embarrassing, and being hosted on the same platform sometimes feels a little ugly; so having our own little island that's peaceful and courteous is a big breath of fresh air.

lukealization··on To Slow Global Warming, We Need Nuclear Power (Op-Ed)
> That is ONE reactor that was of a design many years out of date at the time of the failure, a failure where the people at the controls turned off the safety controls, then turned off the back up safety controls, then intentionally put the reactor in an unsafe state.

Yes, reality exists. The existence of reality and all the flaws that come with it is another argument of many against nuclear fission.

Lighter? I'm not so sure. Most of the reduced mass has to be added back in again for Pegasus to have aerodynamic control during stage 1 flight.

The overall benefits of the platform are questionable, at best, especially considering its absurd launch cost.

lukealization··on I thought I was designing for SpaceX, it may have been for the Silk Road
SpaceX tend to keep their work internal due to concerns regarding both intellectual property and munitions laws (ITAR).

Here's his Reddit account too. https://www.reddit.com/user/blakeeb

I was contacted by Blake (as a SpaceX employee) when he worked for SpaceX saying how much he appreciated my work (related to reddit.com/r/spacex).

lukealization··on Why America Needs India’s Rockets
Sun-Earth L1, while not in Earth's orbit, is still within the Earth's Sphere Of Influence as it has a negative Characteristic Energy value.
lukealization··on Why America Needs India’s Rockets
The price you quote for a SpaceX launch covers the reusable portion of the payload only, not the full unlocked capability of the launch vehicle. That's an Apple's to Oranges comparison.
lukealization··on SpaceX Stats
And what losses have SpaceX had with Falcon 9 exactly?

Dev here. Stop taking such a literal interpretation. Unless you're being purposefully dense, it's obvious that it's meant to be a figurative statistic to represent the hard work that's gone into building SpaceX. Many workers who I know work their asses off there.
lukealization··on SpaceX Stats
Dev here. Quickest turnaround was actually 14 days last year, but yep, that needs fixing.

Scrolling will be removed in next release.

lukealization··on SpaceX Stats
Dev here. Good luck creating a countdown site without JS (and no, meta-refresh doesn't count).
lukealization··on SpaceX Stats
Dev here. Will remove scroll assist in next release :). API, allowing you to pull raw data planned.

No landing today, too heavy and going too far.
