This is why I use pass without git. pass works normally without git, but the Android app assumes the store is a repository, so it "mostly" works.

- I guess it depends on your environment. I run qutebrowser in Debian testing and I have no issues with QtWebEngine. What specific issues have you had?

- I've tried these but they fall short most of the time. The JavaScript of the website interferes with the extension trying to grab key presses, the UI of the browser is not navigable with the keyboard or it uses its own shortcuts, and webextensions being restricted on some special pages (like about:config). The keyboard mode really needs to be a first-class citizen in my opinion.

I started my own blog last month and I am following this advice 100%. I'm not using analytics or trackers of any sort, not only for believing they create they same delusion you mention in your post, but also because I try to block all types of trackers when visiting other sites.

Why would I use the very thing I'm trying so hard to avoid when surfing the web? It's basically a matter of respect to the reader. So I designed my site following the values I consider so important for websites in general: no trackers, no mandatory javascript, no obstacles between the user and the content.

I use recordMyDesktop. If what I need is a gif, then I convert it with ffmpeg.

I didn't know about Serval, Briar nor Bridgefy. I did know about Firechat, and there's also p2pkit [1] but this one is closed source as well.

I see this all the time in MercadoLibre, the most used e-commerce platform in my country (and all of Latin America I think). If you want to buy something you should hit the "Buy" button, which puts you in contact with the seller and also charges the seller a small fee. But you also have a small Q&A section where you can communicate with the seller; and in there you will see many clever attempts of communicating some contact information (usually the phone number) between the parts to avoid paying that fee. The section is automatically (and I think manually too) moderated, but it looks like a never-ending war where the platform is always losing.

I personally love their bot API and the option to create custom stickers.

Although not "features", having an open API for writing clients for whatever platform I choose and the fact that their official clients are open source are also a big plus.

If the project is not written in a framework with which I am already familiar, what I usually do is trying to find the application's entry point and start reading from there.

But in Bitcoin's case it's the same, even the article mentions that "doing today’s calculations would “consume way more power than is generated on the entire planet” if it were done using the CPUs available when Bitcoin launched in 2009.". Energy used when mining Bitcoin could also be considered incidental, the goal is to calculate hashes.

Please elaborate. Did you write a blog post or something like that to document the experience?
