luckyshot··on Ask HN: What are some interesting projects to reuse your old devices?
I have this for an old iPad 1 https://xaviesteve.com/pro/weather/

It tells the weather forecast and time for the next few days and at night it goes into 'dark mode' which is nice, have it in a corner in my living room.

Edit: forgot to mention that if you use it, remember to do the 'Add to Homescreen' so it displays in full screen.

luckyshot··on Ask HN: How do you manage your personal software projects?
I tried spreadsheets, bug trackers, self made tools...

But for a few years now I've been using Trello with the (open sourced) Agile SCRUM Chrome Extension

https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/agile-scrum-for-tr...

It is a very quick methodology to manage all my projects as well as estimate timings and effort for everything. I set how many hours I want to work a week, estimate each task duration and priority and the extension can tell me how long it will take to finish each milestone and release dates.

Organizing boards on Trello:

I have one board with an overall view of all the projects in a Kanban style (To Do, In progress, Completed) and then one board for each project with their lists (To Do, In progress, Testing, Completed) and follow a loose non-strict Agile SCRUM methodology.

luckyshot··on 'Let's Encrypt' project to issue first free digital certificates next month
I am so looking forward to this! It's going to be a huge improvement to the Internet and the privacy of everyone.
luckyshot··on Ask HN: “We use cookies on this site to enhance your experience”
Good cookies are usually used to:

- remember your language/country,

- store a temporary authentication token (when logging into a website, checking the "Remember me" checkbox) so you don't need to re-login every day,

- remember your name after you filled a commenting form on a blog post so the next time you comment it's already there

- etc.

Bad cookies are used to track you across different websites so they can target advertisements to what you have searched on Google or what pages you have visited.

If you are concerned about your privacy you should use an extension such as Ghostery to block trackers and other bad cookies and then, as trebor says, accept all the other ones coming from 1st party sites since they usually want to help you
