louisstow··on Ask HN: What do you use to take notes?
Disclaimer: I'm the creator but I use Wall of Text: http://walloftext.co

It's an infinite blank space of text in 2D. Also see the beta: https://beta.walloftext.co

louisstow··on Show HN: Wall of Text
There's nothing special about it really. Blobs of text have a grid position, then I set the CSS left/top properties to gridX * gridWidth etc and the scrolling is done by CSS translate on the parent container div. The browser handles it all for me
louisstow··on Show HN: Wall of Text
General purpose note taking. It's basically a pastebin on an infinite canvas.
louisstow··on Show HN: Wall of Text
Apologies if it's down or slow, it's currently running on a micro instance.
louisstow··on Show HN: Wall of Text
Hey. The backend is pretty simple, NodeJS + Socket.io for the real-timey and Redis for quick and simple storage.

I may write an article about it soon.

louisstow··on Show HN: Wall of Text
Yeah definitely the inspiration. Some of the things I didn't like was the editing ability of text. If I made a typo I would have to rewrite it. Also colours!

Oops forgot to restart Nginx after updating. Thanks!

I've been working on a "web app builder". It lets users create a web app based on a pre-built template and tweak it to their hearts content. Examples are link-sharing apps like reddit, image sharing like Dribbble, blogs, cms, pastebins etc.

Link here: http://getsproute.com

It's also open-source: http://github.com/sproute/sproute

louisstow··on Show HN: Sproute
Yeah I'm having a hard to explaining it rather than showing it. Would you take a look at the getting started video and tell me what you think? https://getsproute.com/getting-started . Thanks!
louisstow··on Show HN: Sproute
Getting Started page. Will put a more visible link in the home page. Thanks
louisstow··on Show HN: Sproute
Ah my mistake. I forgot to check all the guides were completable within the page limit. Will increase the count to 10 or something. Were there any other issues with the guide? Thanks!
louisstow··on Show HN: Sproute
Yeah I can see that being confusing. Will change the label and add a little blurb with information where to get the details. Thanks!
louisstow··on Show HN: Sproute
Good to hear. I removed the old account and created a new premium one for you. Feel free to send any feedback!
louisstow··on Show HN: Sproute
I define forever as the lifetime of the app. Also I will be adding a feature to export sites for use on private servers
louisstow··on Show HN: Sproute
Sorry about that. Can you send me your details to support@sproute.io? can you try creating a new space?

Some guides for different types of apps you can build:

- Reddit (https://getsproute.com/docs/reddit)

- Chat App (https://getsproute.com/docs/chatapp)

- Blog (https://getsproute.com/docs/blogapp)

- CMS (https://getsproute.com/docs/cmsapp)

- Image Sharing App (https://getsproute.com/docs/imageapp)

- Portfolio (https://getsproute.com/docs/portfolio)

- Notes (https://getsproute.com/docs/notes) [WIP]

louisstow··on Show HN: Sproute
Yeah I basically made it ungoogleable
louisstow··on Show HN: Sproute
Great idea! Will add it. The video was an attempt at a good introduction but a FAQ makes sense to me.

The framework will be released as open-source very soon and I will eventually have an export feature so anyone can just export their site to a ZIP and host it on their own machine. That's the plan anyway.

louisstow··on Show HN: I spent two years working on an HTML5 game. I finally released it
Hey, I'm the developer of CraftyJS and now the lead SDK engineer for Game Closure. I would love to talk further about the tech and potentially working together. You can reach me via twitter (@louisstow) or my gmail louisstow AT gmail.
louisstow··on EntityJS - HTML5 Javascript Game Engine
Engine developers aren't always the best game developers. Bugs are bad but you're not going to get much polish from a demo.
louisstow··on Crafty: open source JS game engine
Yes it is fairly easy. But my engine is not JUST for canvas. You can switch entities from canvas to DOM in seconds. There are also components that make things a lot easier such as collision detection, audio, sprite maps, click maps, mouse events. As well as lots of performance optimizations such as using a Spatial Hash Map for all the entities and redraw regions on canvas so only segments that change are redrawn.
louisstow··on Crafty: open source JS game engine
Ha me too. Today I am going to make a video tutorial of creating Connect 4. If you want the effects and all that jazz, shoot the lights in elevator action.

Edit: I won't charge you for it either ;)

louisstow··on Crafty: open source JS game engine
Very much so. In my tutorials I mention a bunch of times that I encourage developers to write components or extensions and submit them. Just let me write the plugin database first :P
louisstow··on Crafty: open source JS game engine
You know what, I agree. But today after the release of ImpactJS I thought, f* it. Release! On my giant todo list, this is one, I assure you.
