loeschg··on Giving back, the workshop way
I like the article. I'm kind of at that point in my software development career where I have gained enough confidence in my abilities using particular technologies and frameworks that I feel perhaps it's time to start "giving back." I always immediately turn to blog posts as the way to help... I never think to run a workshop. I've enjoyed sharing my knowledge with the few friends and family that have "tech" interests.

Hmm... any people in the DC area want to meet up and talk about Grails?

Would you like to meet up? I will buy you some breakfast.
loeschg··on Response from OH Senator Sherrod Brown regarding SOPA/PIPA
Yeah, those were my thoughts as well. Nothing he really said seemed that insightful. I could be mistaken, but I believe he was listed as one being in support of SOPA/PIPA.
loeschg··on When should you jump ship? Can you split time between startups & still succeed?
This article (http://swombat.com/2012/1/17/army-of-one-entrepreneur) seems to have some application to my situation.

To quote "If you want to maximise your chances of running a successful startup, where success is defined as achieving at least the "survival" level outlined in this article, and ideally the "comfort" level, it makes a lot more sense to invest your time in many ideas at the same time, test all of them (in parallel or one after the other) and then pursue the one or ones that are most promising."

The question is whether or not I'm at a point to start narrowing to the "most promising."

Definitely one of the biggest pros of the newly presented opportunity is the guy I'd be working with. And thanks for the encouragement.

I think that's pretty sound advice overall. Thanks. I appreciate it.

It's somewhat of a touchy situation because I don't feel like I've contributed that much to Startup X (again... it's been tough without proper communication) and don't have much to leverage should they say "what have you contributed?" At the same time, I feel that signing a "draft" contract and then being pushed out flirts with being a bit unethical.

Did as you suggested in a different browser.

Sorry for the formatting madness... tips to help fix that?
loeschg··on Google: Search, plus Your World
That's exactly how I felt. A small step, yes, but it's another small step in the direction of "wow, Google knows me better than I do." In the ideal world where corruption didn't happen, this sort of thing is awesome... I'd imagine it'd be pretty nice to be able to Google my life (and friends).
