leonagano··on Ask HN: Do you have a GPT/ChatGPT powered project making some money?
I found some here on Indie Hackers: https://www.indiehackers.com/products?minRevenue=10&search=c...
leonagano··on Using the new GTP-4 for good
Done. I’ve hidden this one.
leonagano··on Ecosia: A search engine that plants trees. 168M so far
It’s a very open company. They don’t look like greenwashing at all. It’s their mission, since the start.

Why do you think it’s not possible to plant 168M trees? They have partners all over to physically plant tress.

leonagano··on Olio validated hypothesis with WhatsApp and has now over 6M users
I wrote a story of how Olio, a food sharing app, validated assumptions with only a WhatsApp group without building anything.

The have raised, so far, $53m on series B.

> ‘First, start small, really small. Second, test, iterate and learn as quickly as possible. And third, having a clear mission/ purpose that is undeniably good for the world is the most powerful of all secret weapons!’ — Tessa Clark, Olio's co-founder

leonagano··on Show HN: Friday == Pizza
After reading an article about what Google’s doing to drive orders to food delivery apps rather than restaurants’ websites, I decided to build a bot. It randomly tweets pizza places where you can order directly from their website.

I’ll be delighted if it helps restaurants somehow.

"This page is down I scream. You scream. We all scream... for us to fix this page. We’ll stop making jokes and get things up and running soon."
leonagano··on Show HN: StadiumHopper – I didn’t use any fancy programming language to build it
So, I built a very basic bot that tweets random stadiums around the world. Why did I build it? Because I love visiting stadiums, big or small, and the surprise element, tweeting random stadiums every couple of hours is something that I enjoy.

My “tech stack”? - One NodeJs file - Heroku with a cron to run from time to time.

That’s it.

leonagano··on Ask HN: Why has it been so difficult to hire tech professionals?
My background is software development. Worked as developer and manager for 10+ years.

Nowadays I’m still involved with development working as Product Owner.

Throughout my career I have been seeing tech in high demand. Developers never becoming unemployed unless they want to and at the same time, companies struggling to hire.

I was just wondering if there’s something I could do to help both sides of the equation.

leonagano··on Ask HN: What companies have zero/minimum meetings?
Gumroad is an example of a company with no scheduled meetings.

According to Sahil, he runs almost everything async.

leonagano··on Ask HN: What companies hire doing a single-round interview process?
Ok, being more specific: quick phone screen + one round only
leonagano··on Ask HN: What's been the best usage for QR code apart from restaurants menus?
QR track and trace is also used here in the UK, quite effective in my opinion although with lockdown being lifted the app will be scrapped.
leonagano··on Ask HN: What's been the best usage for QR code apart from restaurants menus?
Saw it this morning. Amazing! https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=27803146
leonagano··on “I decided to give our whole staff the month of August off–paid”
> One entrepreneur recently observed the “utter, soul-crushing exhaustion” on the faces of her employees during a Zoom call and decided to make the radical decision of shutting down her business for a full month to give them time to rest and reenergize.

leonagano··on Lego $228m losses to the largest in the world using customer-centric approach
Thanks for the suggestion. Yes, I’m learning the best way to do some businesses analysis on Twitter.

Here is the link to my newsletter where I write in more details https://before90s.substack.com/p/lego-228-million-losses-to-...

leonagano··on Lego $228m losses to the largest in the world using customer-centric approach
"The largest toy maker in the world". Messed the title though
leonagano··on Lego $228m losses to the largest in the world using customer-centric approach
Hey, yes, I'm non-native English speaker. Got lost on the title itself, but the article is how Lego made a turnaround from almost bankrupted to the largest toy maker in the world.

I've been weekly writing free articles about pre-internet companies, the newsletter is not paid.

Re: the Wally one, I tried to be funny with followers, because some people think those big hits happen out of the blue

leonagano··on Ask HN: Where's Wally? Practice for 26 years, monetise and become an instant hit
I've been writing timeless insights from pre-internet companies. I wanted to share here why it took 26 years to Wally's creator become successful
leonagano··on I wrote how Twinings was created and even competitors became clients
Hi, I've been writing insights from pre-internet companies in my newsletter. Found it an interesting subject as some "modern" methods like A/B testing, distribution channel have been used for a very long time.

I also share on my Twitter https://twitter.com/leonagano bite-sized insights

leonagano··on Ask HN: Anyone here using their iPad to program on?
I’m not coding but launched a challenge myself to create a side-project out of iPad only https://www.indiehackers.com/post/challenge-building-and-mak...

At the moment, writing a newsletter and Tweeting some contents with insights from pre-internet companies using GSuite + substack

leonagano··on Ask HN: What's your quarantine side project?
Launched a newsletter https://before90s.substack.com where I talk about what modern businesses can learn from pre-internet era companies. Things like distribution channels, a/b testing, use of influencers were all methods used by those "old companies".... I think there are many different articles telling stories about modern companies and how they are winning in our times. The same is not true for those companies created before 90s though. There are a lot to learn from pre-Internet era companies and apply to businesses and products nowadays.
leonagano··on Show HN: What Madam C. J. Walker can teach to founders nowadays
I’ve been writing how pre-internet era companies started their businesses, got their first clients, competition, etc

I’m primarily doing it because I like to read more how companies behave before the Internet. It also helps improving my English writing skills.

What do you think?

leonagano··on Ask HN: Are you hiring IT professionals over 35s? Leave the details below
