ldenoue··on Show HN: I made a tool that turns screenshots into dramatically angled photos
For my own app https://screenrun.app/ that also produces outputs, I was thinking credits: eg $5 gives you 50 screenshots (or videos in my case). No subscription and people get debited only when they use the tool. Would be nice to add referrals so they could earn credits when others sign up?
ldenoue··on Show HN: I made a tool that turns screenshots into dramatically angled photos
Yep I’ll replace with something softer and have perhaps 2 examples on the landing page: one for a screenshot and one for the video of a screen
ldenoue··on Show HN: I made a tool that turns screenshots into dramatically angled photos
I should add more examples yeah good idea

Shameless plug for https://screenrun.app/ which makes it super easy to create video out of screenshots
ldenoue··on Ask HN: Create Videos from Your Screenshots
Yea I now added options in the studio to disable the bouncing effects.
ldenoue··on Ask HN: Create Videos from Your Screenshots
Yes striving for a really simple tool that does one thing. But I had to add some basic options like dwell and transition times.
ldenoue··on Show HN: Create beautiful videos from screenshots or pdf in seconds
Very strange. I tried again with my old iPhone 6S and it works. You should anyway try the ENTER STUDIO to create your own videos. You just need an email address or login with google.
ldenoue··on Show HN: Create beautiful videos from screenshots or pdf in seconds
Added 2 toggles to control the bouncing effect for the image and mouse independently. Follow @screenrunapp if you would like to discuss further :)

Screen Studio was an inspiration, and they do have a bouncy effect for the mouse, not the screen though. You have a point. I should add some controls on the UI.
ldenoue··on Show HN: Create beautiful videos from screenshots or pdf in seconds
Yes I can add a switch to control the elastic effects. Lots to do. It’s web based but I might also make an iOS app because so many people screenshot directly from their phone and the web app works but isn’t the best on mobile
ldenoue··on Show HN: Create beautiful videos from screenshots or pdf in seconds
Try refreshing. It was buggy yesterday yeah. Or do you mean once you “enter studio”?
ldenoue··on Show HN: Free app to share your screen more privately
Actually Screegle also has a window called “Screegle share” if you prefer to share that using the regular screen sharing (window sharing really). In meet it works great but in zoom or teams you need to slide it out to be fully in your screen (of course you then can put other windows on top). But the virtual camera works well for me: I don’t even need to ask for screen sharing permission anymore.
ldenoue··on Ask HN: Boring but important tech no one is working on?
Check this project from AllenAI called PdfFigures: they also extract tables

https://github.com/allenai/pdffigures2

ldenoue··on I made a virtual bookshelf for book reviews
Why don’t you offer an option to see stacks instead of vertical layout? It’s so much easier to read the titles when they are horizontal.
ldenoue··on Ask HN: Anyone highlight text as they read?
Yea and I use my tool Yawas Highlighter to highlight web pages on my browser or iOS https://www.appblit.com/yawas
ldenoue··on Show HN: Coffeehouse, one-on-one voicechat with random HN users
nice idea: why don't you write a browser extension that would work for ANY web site? So whenever we browse, we can see how many people are reading that URL or domain, but decide to talk?

It's like Clubhouse around a URL.

ldenoue··on Show HN: Virtual Backgrounds for Screen Sharing
I built Screegle because sharing my screen on Zoom or other video apps wasn’t respecting my privacy, was showing too much, or was forcing me to pick only one window at a time.

So with Screegle we can share any window at any time over a clean background image (or even video now!) without worrying about notifications showing up or showing the wrong window.

Since I also work remotely, I added a recording functionality too so we can record Screegle sessions and send the video mp4 to co workers or students.

I’m looking for suggestions to improve it. There’s also a virtual camera that lets you show your Screegle windows directly in Zoom or Meet without using their screen/window sharing functions

ldenoue··on Ask HN: How do you cost-efficiently host your small personal projects?
I have used Google app engine since 2009 and love it: $0 charged. It powers my https://www.appblit.com site
ldenoue··on Ask HN: Screen Sharing or Window Only?
Thanks. And you don’t have issues when notifications popup for example? Perhaps ok with co-workers… maybe a problem if presenting to “strangers”?
ldenoue··on The most underused browser feature: reader mode
Agreed 100%. Because in Safari it doesn’t work on all websites, I made ReaderView, an app that does and also saves articles for later plus lets you highlight passages. Give it a try https://www.appblit.com/readerview
ldenoue··on Show HN: Choreogif – Dance as the GIFs
Lighter version: stick figures of the person and stick of the gifs (pre process the stick figures by analyzing your videos on the server, not real time, only the user in real-time)
ldenoue··on Show HN: Jam, an Open Source Clubhouse (w/ WebRTC)
Janus is another famous SFU but they do have a plugin called AudioBridge that mixes all audio on the server https://janus.conf.meetecho.com/audiobridgetest.html
ldenoue··on Show HN: Jam, an Open Source Clubhouse (w/ WebRTC)
Perhaps Scalable WebRTC could help you there? Pure client mesh https://github.com/muaz-khan/WebRTC-Scalable-Broadcast without having to add more servers on your end to mix anything
ldenoue··on Show HN: InstaRoom turns your iPhone into a smart webcam
InstaRoom lets you also present slides or screen share behind you, a little bit like mmhmm app does except that InstaRoom composes the video on your iphone so your Mac doesn’t slow down.

TestFlight link for the iOS app https://testflight.apple.com/join/8415lk6S
ldenoue··on Cheap and simple way to mount a smartphone directly above a laptop display
I would use a simple velcro to stick my iPhone behind my laptop screen, search for "velcro iphone laptop" to get ideas.
ldenoue··on Show HN: Auto frame like Nvidia Broadcast but in the browser with TensorFlow
I’m working on exactly that: InstaRoom, an iOS and Mac app to do this; you can check out the landing page and leave your email for early access https://instaroom.me
ldenoue··on Mmhmm
They have a recording functionality that generates interactive videos (as a person watching, you can still move the presenter around and jump to specific slides and images). So they might offer online hosting for your productions, à la YouTube or SlideShare?
ldenoue··on Show HN: We made a web app so that our parents can keep reading to our daughter
Very nice. Testing on my iPhone 6s landscape, I noticed the prev and next buttons were not aligned with the book page.

I also created a similar tool a few weeks ago available for free as well here https://www.appblit.com/bookcafe

ldenoue··on Ask HN: What makes an online course amazing?
but if the teacher is fully shown, or perhaps the upper body (in Japanese culture, people like to see the upper body during webcam sessions, not just the head), then it would still convey authority and confidence while watching the video?

Authority seems to come in part from the actual height difference, so that could be lost if the student watches a video... But standing still gives other benefits, see https://www.genardmethod.com/blog/bid/161977/Sitting-or-Stan...
