lazharichir··on Alphabet Announces Second Quarter 2018 Results [pdf]
May show, especially with such a strong company, intended growth and development within new territories which in turn, can mean new opportunities (Cloud, Waymo, etc.)

Strong headcount growth versus other FANG-like companies.

lazharichir··on Systems Languages: An Experience Report
Dgraph is awesome but lacking some serious basic features such as backups and automatic file format update on new versions. I hate to export it all, update, re-import...

But love it, and love the team at Dgraph/Badger.

lazharichir··on Cloud Filestore, high-performance file storage for GCP users
That's very scientific but most people will read it, not write it. And most people will use one, and not even acknowledge the existance of the other.

Sure, they are one-letter away from the other, it's a fact. But to turn this into a problem, well.. no...

lazharichir··on Cloud Filestore, high-performance file storage for GCP users
The price is more attractive (read cheaper) than AWS, but it is still on the pricey side considering the storage sizes people work with these days.

Using persistent storage with Google sets me back a little over $175 per TB of SSD, per month, without networking factored in.

At $0.20, time a thousand for a TB, Cloud Filestore comes to $200. Let's see how the performance goes.

Firestore is a NoSQL database, Filestore is a file storage system.

If you can discern between "now" and "not" then you can deal with "Firestore" and "Filestore"...

lazharichir··on Any Early Adopters Willing to Check Us Out?
I mean, do you have a landing page explaining what it is that people would be joining?
lazharichir··on GitHub Coders to Microsoft: Cut Ties with ICE or We'll Move Our Projects
I mean, Microsoft is not a charity so if they deem okay to do business with ICE, good for them. And if it is so shocking to X, Y, or Z (the signees and others), then they should totally move elsewhere.

Threatening a company is a good weapon for consumers but leaving the company to go elsewhere would be a tad more impactful.

lazharichir··on Project management for small teams
Sadly, most tools are a little overwhelming for small teams. And a small team may have very different actors who would find value is very different tools.

As a dev/tech founder, I use GitHub Boards and Projects for pretty much anything. The rest is Google Calendar, Gmail, and Docs. These are all the "productivity tools" I need.

Some SaaS friends use ASANA, GitHub Projects and Atlassian to "glue" it all. And they are 15 tops. They are thinking of revamping it all to only use a single tool.

lazharichir··on Instagram announces IGTV
My YouTube recommendations are spot-on.. very odd! Perhaps your privacy settings are high and mighty?
lazharichir··on Instagram announces IGTV
It's nice-looking but feels more like an extended Instagram Stories than an actual YouTube competitor.
lazharichir··on GCP arrives in the Nordics with a new region in Finland
Great news for the Finnish people.

Still waiting for decent Firestore querying capabilities, though.

lazharichir··on The One-Name Email, a Silicon Valley Status Symbol, Is Wreaking Havoc
Gotta pay or signin to read this article on one-name email addresses. Hmmm, I'll pass.
