I don’t know how EU pulled that off, but the work of the NSA is illegal just like Google storing EU citizen’s data in USA without GDPR enforcement is illegal too. Not to say it’s applicable.
In fact, you could break the US law from abroad. Ask Assange.
CVE are the proper marketing. The perspective of having a package with a vulnerability and no-one to provide a fix is frightening to any software maintainer.
I think I could be extorted dozens of thousands for a single upgrade. Heck, when the electrician auditor says our office is not certified for 2022, I pay $700 for a professional to fix it. Software will be the same very soon.
We don’t have the figures yet, that’s why we think lockdowns helped. But cholesterol doesn’t kill immediately. Alcohol doesn’t kill immediately. Loneliness doesn’t kill immediately, it slowly settles as friendships got destroyed in anger during the pandemic, and new meetups didn’t arrive, and the guy becomes homeless 5 years later. It may take years, but a lot of human misery will have been triggered by choosing lockdowns. We don’t even have the figures yet.
> severely limits the spread of an airborne virus
Yes, while we’re locked, and then it just takes weeks to recirculate as normal. It took >1 year to get the vaccines, only a 1 year lockdown would have solved us, therefore it is …not a solution to anything to lock people down.
Not a secret that solitary confinement in prisons is used to destroy someone. Lockdowns made a lot of people completely crazy, particularly the people you don’t notice immediately. But who cares, we’ve solved Covid! Wait, we didn’t.
2. The adverse effects of mental and physical heath are irreversible,
3. The tanking of the economy and the debt (until 2048 for France) is irreversible,
4. You didn’t even solve Covid.
Shrek and 3 other stunning movies had gone out. The world had been in mostly peace for long. That was before they hammered the terrorist risk on TV, mandated water bottle checks at the airports. Everything went down after that.
It deeply saddens me because it means saddistic managers obtain better results, and people perform better by being talked down. And that’s not a path I want to take and it’s hard to find the way to both congratulate people and get them to excel at their work (FYI we’re at 35h/week and we don’t do overtime here).
I went Apple precisely because it was not hostile at all compared to Windows and Google’s forest of adware. The minute you give me a non-user hostile OS (phone or desktop), I’ll PAY $300/year for it.
But even Ubuntu returned Amazon results when I searched the local application (Don’t get me started on technicalities of “But maybe you want your start menu to display your friend’s most recent purchases? How can Ubuntu know? But they’ve recognized their mistake after going to production and rolled back parts of it!”)
It’s time to stop blaming the user and start blaming the EU for their badly-written cookie banner laws.
Isn’t that a side effect of lazyness?
> - Spend all their time on video games, YouTube, TV shows, social media
And loneliness?
> - Take substances such as caffeine or other recreational drugs
Doesn’t everyone drink caffeine? Asking seriously. I am depressed but I believe computer addiction sucks my liveliness, fortunately with programming instead of gaming, so I was able to make a career out of it, but it’s been the bane of my life. I prefer caffeine because it bumps my mood and I can still do sports, as opposed to meds which cut my libido and break my will to do sports and make me want to eat fat (so basically cuts my manliness), but could caffeine be the cause of anything and do most people do without?
After 39 years old, I just conclude people hate people who work and invent values to break our life (preferring some people to others, celebrating other people’s deeds (meanwhile I’ve donated thousands to charities, in hours and money, who cares?), now locking us down with covid psychosis, it sounds very fun to them), I’m done trying to better myself, ideology of favouring the weakest turns into hating the “rich” and plain bullying. If the world didn’t revolve around making our life difficult, people like me wouldn’t spend our life at work and they wouldn’t be able to fund their awful “social” (social but not me) projects. The economy of the nation revolves on stable bullying.
And from solar panels! There are a dozen deaths a year, worldwide, from installing them on roofs, which mean solar is more deadly than nuclear ;)
I should put patents on legalese phrases. Weird way of protecting myself against innocent people is an undervalued art. Wait, Oracle would still win at this.
Just draw letters on a big board and let the patient point at them. When it’s a possible solution, it is surprisingly efficient as you can guess orally and he “thumbs up” so he doesn’t have to spell everything out, and after a few tries you can tell stories. You can add bonus pictograms for ideas that repeat.
Thoughts to a fiend I cared for, a few days per week during his last months. After one night playing guitar, he never woke up, and I realized he went to sleep while we were singing him his own songs. What an enemy he was during life, he would have killed me if he knew my political opinions, but once he became weak and harmless and alone, no-one deserves to go alone. If only such people didn’t fight so much against the white christian male ceo archetype during their life… I hate life.
If I tell them “I have Digital Ocean, I maintain the load balancer myself, the database myself, ELK myself, and you’ll be expert in Postgres, Ansible, Nginx and Debian”, I sound like an old fart.
The future for them in AWS is a click-on-the-button deployment and they’ll master nothing.
- They’ll leverage GDPR to make it only possible to comply to all privacy standards (SOC, credit card management…) if you use AWS,
- Worse, they’ll provide special Linux repos with vulnerability fixes that only they provide. Log4j can make all your distributions obsolete in a single day, and only Amazon Linux users will have that patch, this quickly.
- Then insurances will stop covering people who deploy their software manually, because vulnerabilities are too prone to happen.
Well, a phone can reconstruct this license plate, and in fact any license plate in lieu of this one! And invent a new one!
Which is worrisome for justice. Presenting proof, that was uploaded to servers, horodated and geostamped, won’t be enough in a court of law. Anyone can answer: “What if the iPhone recreated and inferred the presence of a knife using the neural engine? This face, is it real? The distance, is it repositionned?”
