You do make a couple valid points but on the debt side are wrong. The only reason they have such a high debt is due to USA tax policy on repatriation. This has now been removed with new law so what will happen is there prob will not be anymore borrowing anymore. The CFO even mention they will be cash-neutral. Net net Apple will have very negligible debt moving forward and def nowhere near the level it is today or your +$200B.

I actually think it is a deliberate cannibalization being done with here. But they are doing it slowly as not to be a shock to the system. Look at the Apple Watch...my gut you will start to see every year more and more of the functions on the iPhone move over. The beauty of this is ppl will not bark at this as the Watch becomes the yearly replacement cycle vs. the phone which will be every 5 years.

I am on the same page as you...I think the Apple Watch is going to be the replacement for the iPhone. In fact this will be the largest segment as we slowly see most functions move from the phone to the Watch (yes I realize that there are some limitations due to screen size) but in general you will see much move over while the Apple Glass will take over the other function that you need a image of.
lasgsf··on Ask HN: Why has Apple's software quality steadily gone downhill?
On my side with the new Macbook and iPhone X no issues whatsoever so maybe this was just your system?
lasgsf··on Bike Sharing Is Doomed to Fail in Most American Cities
That was my general thesis which is how do these companies solve for the problem of random bikes all over the place? I guess you can incentivize users enough for them to dock it but then does that become a burden and uneconomical for the company.
lasgsf··on How I sold my stock options
Overall was pretty easy and painless. In general I pretty feel good about it as they mention that the underlying principle is backed by insurance so if the counterparty does not transfer shares over you can get your principal back in theory.
lasgsf··on Coinbase Vault: Don't lose your secondary email ever
haha check out the latest email from "support" i got: Hi there XXX,

Unfortunately I cannot provide an update for you at this time. We have to await to hear back from the specialist.

Thanks for your patience."

Yeah thanks for my patience as it has been a month and I have seen a drop from $15K when I was going to sell it to now.

Did you try calling them as well? If not I can tell you it is useless. I tried once. Waited 45 minutes and then the lady was we can't do anything but will escalate. 5 minutes later get email saying "Hi we have escalated". Nothing down for two weeks after that. Called again and same process rinse and repeat.

It would seems a pretty simple ticket request to resolve. Will be moving to Gemini moving forward.

lasgsf··on How I sold my stock options
I have done two transactions with them. One was a SPV direct transfer on the companies cap table which was pretty straight forward. The other one was a forward contract which was a little more unease but the opp was worth it.
lasgsf··on How I sold my stock options
Yup that is what equidate does. Basically a forward contract on the underlying shares. I have done this with some AirBnB shares.
