laptop-man··on Ask HN: What is the best way to spend $1000 to improve your productivity?

laptop-man··on Vue Native (2018)

whats the down side of plopping your vue app into a webview then making interfaces to call kotlin code from vuejs?

thats what I've been doing to rapids app prototyping...

laptop-man··on Ask HN: How likely are you to not received a product from Kickstarter/Indiegogo?

2 things j funded via Kickstarter never worked. One gave full refund. The other gave some people a few peices they had made then took the money and ran. Learned my lesson to never back something unless your fine losing your money and never getting anything

laptop-man··on Large Numbers of Health Care and Frontline Workers Are Refusing Covid-19 Vaccine

wow 3 pop ups for newsletter sign up, an ad, then telling me how many articles I have left. THEN another pop up for proving I'm not a robot...

laptop-man··on Automated headless multicast livestream for YouTube Live/Twitch and co

non copy right sound and messaged a bunch of small producers on yt. you could make it a bit more interactive with fun image manipulation or html to image. then do some fancy prerendering of html/js.

laptop-man··on Automated headless multicast livestream for YouTube Live/Twitch and co

I've done this with ffmpeg before. had it "livstreaming" a Playlist of non copyright music. had a small script that would update the image for each song and swap out album art. all running on a cheap Ubuntu server

laptop-man··on Ask HN: Teach Me Electron.js

Its "production" ready as there's minimal bugs and they are not actively developing new features. Docs are extremely thin tho.

laptop-man··on Bug drone for UK army that weights 196g, has 40 mins autonomy and 2km range

It has a builtin camera? You can also upgrade to something like a caddix loris or tarasar and get full 4k and still be under weight.

laptop-man··on Bug drone for UK army that weights 196g, has 40 mins autonomy and 2km range

for 199 you can get https://www.racedayquads.com/collections/all-pre-built-quads...

close to 1 to 2 mile range (depending on obstructions) 30 min battery as long as your not freestyleing lol. (assuming you have everything else for it. a decent starter set up is close to 200/300 dollars but is compatable with any drone you can stick a rx in)

laptop-man··on Ask HN: Teach Me Electron.js

quasar is great, love their docs!

laptop-man··on Ask HN: Teach Me Electron.js

If you like go I'd recommend webview for go. Lot less bloat and seems viable. (Just started going though make some apps to test)

Other than that iirc there's tutorials on electron kn their repo

laptop-man··on Ask HN: How many hours per day do you work?

Per my work billing quota I have to work 62.5% of my time towards billable items... even if we have no billable to work on lol rest of the time goes to fun projects, yt, walks, etc

laptop-man··on Show HN: I calculated the cost per month of ownership for products

I was just about to mention something about the price/month for knives. 1 they can easily be sharpened. 2. I've had several good brand knives I've had and used for 5+ years all <$120

laptop-man··on Ask HN: Do you have a second income?

Just got my self a part time job being a TA at a coding bootcamp. Its not great money (6.5k) for 6 months. But it's part time and fully remote

laptop-man··on Should I sue Twilio for being a proxy for the relentless fraud calls I get?

if you waste their time they will stop. pretend to be old and do everything slowly, make them repeat themselves. collectively I waster a few hours of their time over a month. they stopped calling

laptop-man··on Why I switched from Netlify back to GitHub Pages

while I can't say anything about the mx records. I've yet to have any issue with hitting my limit of build minutes. in the first month I had around 50 pushes and I was <10 minutes used with a static site generator.

laptop-man··on Show HN: Dev community that lets you blog on your domain for free
