this bumble app is getting so much pr, but it seems like only the journalists are using it
kyrre··on Pandora to Buy Rdio Assets for $75M, Rdio Files Ch.11, Will Shutter Service

kyrre··on Pandora to Buy Rdio Assets for $75M, Rdio Files Ch.11, Will Shutter Service
isn't this due to complex licensing issues?

i created my original rdio account while living in London, and then when i moved to Norway i decided to upgrade my subscription, at which point my playlists became unplayable as a large portion of songs were suddenly marked as "unavailable" in my region

kyrre··on Computers made between the 70s and the early 90s
i prefer this version: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pJON-nUg4eA
kyrre··on Theranos didn’t work with the huge drug company it supposedly made money from
hopefully this isn't an example of a biotech startup embracing the silicon valley 'fake it until you make it' mentality.
kyrre··on Google employee lives in 16' box truck to avoid Bay Area rents
It's certainly better than Ben Discoe's setup:

https://www.quora.com/Which-Googler-holds-the-record-for-liv...

while Brandon has made a whole project out of it with regular blog posts highlighting his eco-friendliness, Ben was forced to live at Google's parking lot in a van, in order to pay for alimony.

kyrre··on Goodbye CoffeeScript, Hello TypeScript
How about using JavaScript with flow?
kyrre··on Electron as GUI of Python Applications
I experimented with this by using python-shell [1], but it in the end it just felt too hacky, and it decided it was best to embrace js instead.

kyrre··on Tweakstyle: A new code editor in beta

kyrre··on In Search of the Red Cross' $500M in Haiti Relief
this is the exact scenario in envision whenever someone asks for donations, which happened /a lot/ when i was living in London, where it appears to be a thriving "industry"

imo, working for charitable organizations is unethical

kyrre··on Julia issue #8839 closed
i am doing a phd now and i think of it this way: most likely no one is ever going to read your papers and certainly not your thesis
kyrre··on Ask HN: How do you use Reddit daily?

kyrre··on Ask HN: Why are there so few law startups?
lexisnexis and westlaw got this space locked down.

some interesting attempts:

kyrre··on Ask HN: Why are there so few law startups?

kyrre··on Free HN: Entire First Section of “Linux for Hobbyists”
pretty cool, but i really don't think these chapters are elaborate enough for true beginners.

slightly offtopic: what is the recommended book for a more indepth look of how linux/unix works?

So you are saying that a phone will drop down from umts or lte to gsm if the gsm signal is the strongest? i know it will resort to gsm as a backup, but i thought this happened only if 3g/4g was altogether unavailable?
kyrre··on A Novel Approach For Computer Worm Control Using Decentralized Data Structures
