kvakkefly··on Turbo Rascal Syntax Error
I know the author quite well. It all started with him following "Let’s Build A Simple Interpreter. Part 1." from Ruslan's blog (https://ruslanspivak.com/lsbasi-part1/) where you are creating an interpreter for a pascal like language.

He then decided to spit out some c64 assembler, and it has been a pretty cool journey after that :D

kvakkefly··on Nuclear technology’s role in the world’s energy supply is shrinking
If the half life is that long, it's not very dangerous as energy / time is very low.
kvakkefly··on Bill Gates: Nuclear power will ‘absolutely’ be politically acceptable again
Why?

Not as cool as experiment of course

kvakkefly··on Apple acquires Dark Sky
I think that only works in Norway where they have radar data from all the weather stations, or however that works.

You can try Yr: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=no.nrk.yr&hl=e... It is an app made by the Norwegian Meteorological Institute afaik and works quite well all over the world. I'm curious on how well it works where you live! They have open API's as well: https://api.met.no
kvakkefly··on Supercomputers will start building a 3D map of the world
I’ve seen that azure has some nodes with infiniband connection (same that is often used in super computers).

I did my PhD in physics simulations (molecular dynamics), and have the same problem there. I tried running these simulations in Google Cloud without any good performance results due to high latency (compared to HPC). I’m no GC expert though, so should be possible to improve what I did.

kvakkefly··on Three.js Fundamentals
Very cool!
kvakkefly··on Three.js Fundamentals
I sort of agree, but there are some function signatures that don’t match what’s in the code using @types/three, and mrdoob does not want to maintain this. This gives a few @ts-ignore, but that’s not a big problem:)
kvakkefly··on Ask HN: What software should I use to write a textbook?
I suggest Doconce (https://github.com/hplgit/doconce) which is a language that compiles to latex, html and other formats. It is easy to make a version specialized for tablet etc. It is used quite heavily at my university.
kvakkefly··on Ask HN: Does anyone know if Apple plans to address the MacBook keyboard issue?
My downarrow was like this for a while. Then it broke and I'm sending it in.

I've had so many keys stuck due to dust or some other particle . When I press hard enough I can hear it crack and the key usually works again...I really hate the keyboard :P

kvakkefly··on Physicists used atomic clocks to test the theory of general relativity
They are just somewhat different names of the same thing. General relativity includes the special relativity one where special means without accelerated reference frames, i.e. nothing accelerates or is exposed for gravity.
