Hey, thanks for your opinion. We try to keep it simple. We know that when someone has a Github account he's probably a programmer.

thanks for your feedback! Code for the site is here https://github.com/djangocon/2013.djangocon.eu , we'll be more than happy to accept any pull request that improves the voting system. As far as the rich layout is concerned.. some people will like it, some not, let's keep it that way

kubindurion··on Facebook Graph API exploit that let's you pump up to 1800 'Likes' in an hour
Yeap, it won't drive any traffic to your website. But if your visiting an online store and you see a lot of likes under the product then this might cloud your judgement ;)

kubindurion··on Why Mixpanel switched from Erlang to Python
"However, the team lacked an Erlang expert and the code became difficult to manage over time"

So I guess they had decided to go for Erlang because they had the expert ;)

kubindurion··on Premature Scaling Kills Startups
conclusion: never scale before you have a gun pointed at your head
kubindurion··on Why Startups Need to Hire Engineers, Not “Ninjas”
Thx for the post, still, the first thing I would focus on in the interview is what the candidate has done before and I would bet on that. Even if he/she is a student, and all you're looking on is student portfolio

"Tech interviews should center on algorithmic complexity, abstraction and isolation, and how the stuff you learn in CS101 actually applies in the real world"

I am not in any way connected with this startup but the nice way to check the above would be to use codility http://codility.com/

Balance in your life is a cool thing, still, there is a question where is balance? Is it 1 hour of "decompression" every day? 2 hours? a weekend? what if you're still more effective with ALMOST no decompression at all? How long can you endure?

Where is the point of "balance" for you?
