kstenson··on Spolksy and Atwood's StackOver is a huge success
I think that StackOverflow.com growth now is being pushed more by the organic search results from google and the praise being sung by ordinary users in blogs and forums.

I think the site is excellent, and looking forward to more growth as more eyes provide better questions/answers!

kstenson··on Ask HN : Which should I learn : C# or Java
I would recommend looking at c#, or more interestingly the .net framework and the CLR. Once you've learn't the framework then you can also look at the other .net languages. Ironpython, IronRuby and F# give you a width breadth of languages and ideas but with the benfit of the shared .Net framework and the object inter opt that comes with the CLR/DLR
kstenson··on Calling Apple out - Make dev material free.
I spent last weekend watching ton's of PDC2008 Videos on-line, checking out the power points and source code that was made available of the sessions. Then I a email from apple telling me that the WWDC08 video are available for purchase.

As much as I love my Mac, in this regard Microsoft come out tops.

There are two things my Grandpa (A Joiner) used to say that stuck with me. A good tradesman never blames his tools, and money spent on cheap tools is money wasted.

I think Jeff has a point, I spend long periods at my desk and after having a few bouts of bad back problems I'm very selective about where I park my butt.

Jeff mentioned that he has used his chair for ten years. My grandfathers tools are still being used in our family 30-40 years after they were bought.

I think that people in the IT industry need to give there workspace as much consideration as what OS/programming language/Framework they use. You can always change your OS/language/framework but your stuck with your back and wrists for a lifetime!
