kronin··on Being Multi-Cloud with Cloudflare
Multi data center was restricted to Riak Enterprise and required a paid contract. That's what I was referring to, as your comment was talking about data stores that supported multi-region or multi-cloud.
kronin··on I'm Testifying to Congress about Data Breaches – What Should I Say?
And when. And the lag between when the breach occurred and when the public was notified of the breach, along with all relevant information the company provided to help customers determine the extent of their information that is now public.
kronin··on Being Multi-Cloud with Cloudflare
Riak Enterprise supports multiple data centers. Bet365 has, or is in the process, of purchasing all of Basho's IP, and plans are to open source the Enterprise bits[1].

Not sure if Riak is considered common, and the multi DC is not yet free.

kronin··on Heptio Contour – An ENVOY powered ingress controller
Istio comes with its own ingress controller that uses envoy. This is an alternative to ambassador, as already said, or nginx-ingress.
kronin··on Thoughts on Insurance
"Payment rates for Medicare and Medicaid, with the exception of managed care plans, are set by law rather than through a negotiation process, as with private insurers. These payment rates are currently set below the costs of providing care, resulting in underpayment. Payments made by managed care plans contracting with the Medicare and Medicaid programs are generally negotiated with the hospital.

Hospital participation in Medicare and Medicaid is voluntary. However, as a condition for receiving federal tax exemption for providing health care to the community, not-for-profit hospitals are required to care for Medicare and Medicaid beneficiaries. Also, Medicare and Medicaid account for more than 60 percent of all care provided by hospitals. Consequently, very few hospitals can elect not to participate in Medicare and Medicaid."

kronin··on Thoughts on Insurance
The ultimate reason behind hospitals attempting to charge exorbitant prices is due to Medicare and Medicaid paying under cost for services. Hospitals need to make that difference up somewhere. Surprisingly, if you remove the profit hospitals make on ancillary services like the gift shop, parking fees and investment income, they are losing money.
kronin··on Acing the technical interview
If the only thing the interviewer has to judge your skill on is what you wrote on the board, that's what will be used. When I'm interviewing, I'm trying to gauge how they approach a problem, how well they can reason through a solution, whether they see the assumptions they're making and the impact those have on the solution, what the limitations are of the algorithm they came up with, etc. It's really hard to see most of this if the candidate doesn't talk at all.
kronin··on The new legend of Zelda is a toy box of delights
I preordered one of the 2nd round of bundles from GameStop a week ago with guaranteed delivery by Easter. My shipment is showing up tomorrow.
kronin··on AWS Application Load Balancer
If your security requirements are such that AWS can't terminate TLS would be one reason.
kronin··on Apple Pro Mouse
The logitech trackman marble wheel is my device of choice. I like the thumbball better than a finger-operated trackball. Sadly the wired version isn't made anymore. thankfully I have 2 and they are bulletproof.
