krolden··on Everyone going to World Cup must have this app, experts are sounding the alarm
They still get scalped but you have to do it through their approved scalper app
krolden··on Everyone going to World Cup must have this app, experts are sounding the alarm
But dont these apps require network access to function?
krolden··on Ex Police Officer Used Law Enforcement Tech to Hack Women’s Explicit Photos
Eliminate the job all together and refocus the money and effort into actually improving peoples lives instead of forcing them to live in fear of incarnation/death by state employees.
krolden··on Ex Police Officer Used Law Enforcement Tech to Hack Women’s Explicit Photos
What did he lie about?
krolden··on White House is pushing ahead research to cool Earth by reflecting back sunlight
Just put a giant ice cube in the ocean every now and then
krolden··on White House is pushing ahead research to cool Earth by reflecting back sunlight
I reflex against this because its going to be a ton of money going into research/deployment of this, meanwhile theres still massive pollution and single use plastic production going on. Maybe spend the money to fix that first.

Meanwhile farmers in Brazil are torching one of the planets lungs and no one seems to be doing anything about it.

krolden··on Canonical shows ads in the Ubuntu CLI
So every other Linux distro has more funding than canonical? Doubtful.

Yeah but will they take your drivers license?
krolden··on Think apartment-hunting is frustrating? Try doing it with an electric car
>We were lucky to live in a newer building but it still only had a single third party charger that would milk you dry if you used it (still not sure why it was so expensive).

Totally unrelated, but does anyone know if stealing power to charge your car has the same repercussions as stealing gas?

krolden··on Meta in Free Fall: Users Leaving, Revenue Down, Stock Keeps Falling
It has nothing to do with morals. People use tiktok because their attention spans can only handle 30 second videos.
krolden··on Open Source PC That Fits in Your Pocket
The fxtec has been a huge disappointment. If you can even get upirs, its now dated hardware and people have been reporting many issues with it.

Also no it most definitely contains blobs.

https://community.fxtec.com/topic/3326-pro%C2%B9-x-%E2%80%93...

krolden··on Open Source PC That Fits in Your Pocket
And has yet to actually ship to anyone. I'm pretty sure people have been waiting ~2 years for their preorders to ship. Not to mention the specs are quite dated at this point. I think they even had to start making them with a newer chip because they weren't able to ship before the original chip lost support from Qualcomm.
krolden··on 3x new books added to the Pirate Library Mirror
I'd much rather have doctors that weren't motivated by profit. There would be many more that actually give a shit about people rather than paying off med school or their Porsche loan.
krolden··on Citing new evidence, families sue feds, Raytheon, Lockheed over 1996 TWA crash
So this tells us its OK to lie as long as 200 people die and you can tie up the evidence for a couple decades.

I'll remember that when I'm teaching my kids its bad to lie about stealing an extra cookie. Thanks CIA, etc

krolden··on Next-gen BMW EVs to get new battery tech for 620-mile range
But it will only go 150 miles unless you pay for the mileage boost subscription for an extra $40/month.
krolden··on Framework Laptop 2.5Gbps Ethernet Expansion Card
>Thunderbolt with a dongle can really replace anything that an ExpressCard could do, and more.

What can tb do that express card could not?

krolden··on Framework Laptop 2.5Gbps Ethernet Expansion Card
I have a thinkpad p71 with an Expresscard x1 slot and can't figure out what to use it for since the laptop has so much existing IO out of the box.

It would have been nice if framework adopted this existing standard and started making their own express card modules instead of making their own USBC thing that doesn't fit in any other laptop.

krolden··on Former Owner of T-Mobile Store Guilty of $25M Scheme to Unlock Cellphones
T-Mobile is probably saying they lost $25m in revenue due to his services.

Oh nevermind

>Khudaverdyan obtained more than $25 million for these criminal activities. He used these illegal proceeds to pay for, among other things, real estate in Burbank and Northridge.

I bet a lot of those phones would have ended up in a landfill anyway.

krolden··on Intel NUC P14E Laptop Element with Swappable NUC 11 Compute Element (2021)
I'd rather have a swappable compute module than some USBC adapters that are pretty much a gimmick IMO. They're both Intel so I won't be buying either, but I like to see that the push towards modular laptops seems to be going in a direction.

Also whos to say someone won't hack this to use non nuc modules? I'm sure the firmware is locked down but who knows. It would likely be more feasible to hack a new module into it over hoping framework makes new motherboards with the specs you want.

krolden··on The Ex-CIA Agents Deciding Facebook’s Content Policy

krolden··on I've started using Firefox and can never go back to Chrome
Chrome works better with google crap, by design. That's about the only reason I ever use chromium.
krolden··on Weedkiller ingredient tied to cancer found in 80% of US urine samples
That's stupid. But I will definitely drink some compost tea if it will shut you up.
krolden··on Weedkiller ingredient tied to cancer found in 80% of US urine samples
"We" use them in the first place because agribusiness wants to grow as much crops as cheaply as possible and consequences be damned as long as it cuts down on their expenses.

Monsanto also pushed the sterile lawn image in american culture. Cover your lawn in our herbicides and fertilizers and you can be a proud american lawn mower. Who cares if that means carcinogenic runoff into your lakes and rivers.

krolden··on Supreme Court limits EPA’s power to cut emissions
Stop saying g 'the left'. There is no 'the left' in us politics.

>This isn’t the end of the world though, Congress can fix everything that’s happened in the last few weeks via proper laws.

No, this us pretty much what the end of the world looks like.

krolden··on Amazon is intimidating and harassing organizing workers in Montreal
>Detroit was the richest city in America in 1950. Within 40 years of the UAW Union taking over the Big Three automakers (membership rose through the 50s and 60s, peaking in 1979), the big automakers have lost their market dominance, and Detroit is a shell of its former self.

Oh yeah blame the unions for the downfall of the american auto industry. It had nothing to do with the biggest recession in the last 40 years and the fact that no one wanted new cars when they were losing their house to the banks.

krolden··on FDA to order Juul e-cigarettes off U.S. market
Its only expensive because the regulations made it that way. I was buying a litre of unflavored pg+VG with the nicotine already mixed in (I got to pick my own flavors to mix in) and it coat me pennies on the dollar compared to buying a 100ml bottle of shitty premixed juice at the store. They put an end to that when they made shipping nicotine to consumers through the mail illegal.
krolden··on FDA to order Juul e-cigarettes off U.S. market
That's not accurate as seal belt laws actually protect other people other than yourself. Think about a human flying through a windshield at 40mph hitting a pedestrian, or you flying around the car smashing into other passengers that were wearing their seatbelt.
