korm··on Researchers Find Gut Bacteria Can Lead to Strokes
I'd be wary of:

- Someone with 2 comments in total pointing to the same site

- A site called 'facts' showing a doctor selling books

- A site about nutrition focusing almost entirely on veganism

- A doctor who seems to push a vegan agenda and has a sort of cult following in the vegan community

- Cherry picking sources. It's quite obvious from reading some of the articles, and while I don't doubt veganism is good for you, it makes me doubt the site's credibility even more.

korm··on Dart 1.23: Better strong mode support
Full changelog https://github.com/dart-lang/sdk/blob/master/CHANGELOG.md#12...

I really like how detailed the changelogs are, including examples and snippets. It has excellent documentation in general.

korm··on Ask HN: What do you want to see in Ubuntu 17.10?
That's my no. 1 request too. Just two days ago I had to reinstall and waste a day because an update messed up my system.

My solution for now is to have TimeShift[0] make regular backups of system files.

Pretty close in his estimation.

korm··on A Prettier JavaScript Formatter
I have to say Dartfmt is one of my favorite things about using Dart. It works amazingly well and the fact that it's not configurable is a great decision [0]. I'm never afraid to peek into unfamiliar code because of that. So thank you.

korm··on AngularDart is going all Dart
Javascript compiled from Dart is as fast as normal Js, in some cases faster. And in the server it outperforms Node according to the Techempower benchmarks. https://www.techempower.com/benchmarks/
korm··on Why Kotlin is my next programming language (2015)
With the exception of compiling to JVM, Dart is worth looking at if you liked this. Most of the article applies to it as well: https://www.dartlang.org/docs/dart-up-and-running/ch02.html

With dart news in the past 4 years, the knee-jerk reaction has been that Google will abandon it, which unfortunately means that not much discussion ever went to its merits. Adopting the language has provided a huge productivity boost for me and many other developers, in or outside Google.

korm··on “Adobe is aware of a report that CVE-2016-1010 is being actively exploited”
Browsers are not perfect and have vulnerabilities too sometimes. And operating systems..
korm··on Tor NoScript visit tracker
This can be used to make a user's fingerprint stand out based on their browsing patterns. However, it is very fragile in practice. The tracker would need both a rare fingerprint, as well as a rare browsing pattern in order to identify a user.

This is pretty hard, considering the Tor Browser does a good job at having a common fingerprint at it's highest security setting (Javascript disabled, which is what this tracker is for).

korm··on Tor NoScript visit tracker
Because you can't use WebSockets in the browser without Javascript.
korm··on Tor NoScript visit tracker
But this can't track individual users, it just provides general usage statistics, like visitor retention.

I'd be interested in a viable example of this being used to identify users.

korm··on Flutter – Cross-platform mobile framework from Google
Where would we be without alternatives for developers? Should C# never have existed because of Java? Or any language for that matter?

Flutter exists because some people (also internally at Google) enjoy writing their stuff in Dart, so they created this tool for themselves, which they released in public.

People shouldn't get upset nor should they feel threatened by alternatives to their preferred tools.

korm··on Flutter – Cross-platform mobile framework from Google
A lot of people are worried or put off by Dart's type system, but it now also supports strong mode https://github.com/dart-lang/dev_compiler/blob/master/STRONG...
