kolev··on Our First Certificate Is Now Live
It's like trying to sell a Ferrari to a guy who's looking for a regular car...
kolev··on Our First Certificate Is Now Live
Oh, the commenter asked for the overly expensive EV type? Let's not be the devil's advocate. This is the wrong way to advertise. This is not the beginners corner. You advertise once, twice, three times, people remember, you can search HN - no need to annoy people till the end of the world. The company seems desperate for new business this way anyway.
kolev··on Our First Certificate Is Now Live
These shameless plugs are getting really annoying. We know about you, we know CloudFlare and Let's Encrypt are kinda competitors with their free certificates, but you don't have to comment on each post about them. Really, stop annoying us - it doesn't do you any good, honestly!
kolev··on Sift – a fast and powerful open source alternative to grep
And where's the source?

Edit: Here it is: https://github.com/svent/sift

kolev··on iPhone Upgrade Program
I doubt this is better than T-Mobile's Jump program, because you get insurance with Jump as well, i.e. the upgradability is just $3 extra per month.
kolev··on Koa – Next Generation Web Framework for Node.js
It's not new and it's been a "next generation framework" for years.
kolev··on Show HN: Zephyr - team platform for building great product – free access
Same here! A lot of startups play with your nerves using some guided tour - this is a clear indication that their UX failed miserably. Or maybe the target user base is mentally challenge people.
kolev··on Why drivers in China intentionally kill the pedestrians they hit
This is what my Chinese friends were telling me over the years, it's true, but shows a broken legal system.

kolev··on Python linting at Venmo
Why everybody's doing their on hooks instead of using a framework such as pre-commit [0] or Overcommit [1]?

kolev··on Hjson, the Human JSON
Except that a valid JSON is a valid Hjson as well.
kolev··on Fluentd: a high performance unified logging layer
Well, written in Go or Rust, it could have both the readability of Ruby, the performance of C/C++. Having critical parts in C and the rest in Ruby is worse.
kolev··on Fluentd: a high performance unified logging layer
Isn't Fluentd in Ruby though? It's 2015 and we need something like this in Go [0] [1] or Rust [2].

kolev··on Show HN: Git-remote-dropbox – use Dropbox as a true Git server
For small private repos, GitHub makes the per-GB price very high compared to Dropbox.
kolev··on Show HN: A browser-based neural network simulation
The guy doesn't have the habit to open-source.
kolev··on Low-fat diet trims body fat better than low-carb diet
Nutrition is notorious with its flawed and sponsored studies!
kolev··on Low-fat diet trims body fat better than low-carb diet
Those who had tried low-carb know it takes time to adjust metabolism to the new diet and two weeks is way too short of a period.
kolev··on Can America cope with a resurgence of tropical disease?
That's one of the reason smart people should be moving North. Just try to extrapolate problems 10-15-20 years from now. And try to imagine the migration flows and all the repercussions. Don't wait!
kolev··on Announcing Docker ToolBox
It will be available in docker-machine v0.5.0 as a plugin.
kolev··on Removing the 140-character limit from Direct Messages
When you say "I PM'd you", it's not clear, so, I think, Twitter, by choosing their own term, it uniquely specifies the communication channel, i.e. you can PM via different channels (like Facebook, etc.), but you can DM only via Twitter.
kolev··on Kali Linux 2.0 Released
"Kali Linux is Now a Rolling Distribution" - finally!
kolev··on L. Condoms (YC S15) Provides Safe Sex, On-Demand
Except that milk is not just empty fat. The CLA in grass-fed milk, the vitamin D, and many other vitamins in milk are not present in coconut milk. Best is to put coconut oil in your warm milk!
kolev··on SunPort – Plug into Solar. No Panels Required
What a weird world we're living in! Why can't I just buy $49 in SRECs?!

kolev··on Google plans monthly security updates for Nexus phones
So, stay unprotected for an average of half a month? If this is what Google can do best, imagine the others! I'm highly disappointed! Not to mention that Nexus updates, although Google doesn't have so many of them, usually take a whole week to roll out! Google is setting a really bad example here!
kolev··on Rise of the Slack bots: automate boring tasks
I don't get it! Why write a Slack bot and not a Lita [0] bot?

kolev··on Things I would build if I worked at GitHub
All these are nice, but are not must-haves as they can be built outside of GitHub. The show-stopper for me is granular permissions - coming from the Gitolite [0] world, where I can permission even branches and do all kinds of checks and balances on the server, GitHub is a joke for a not-so-large enterprise! Another thing is the Wiki - why pages are based on Git and the Wiki is not?!

kolev··on Bitcoin deemed regular currency by Australian Senate Committee

kolev··on Hulbee – A Safe, Smart, Innovative Search Engine
The animation with the mosaic is just terrible - a visual distraction and slowness no search engine needs.
